The Midcontinent Sports Channel has been available in the Twin Cities since last season; available on Xfinity sports package.  They show all the hockey home games and I'm thinking it's a big plus to have this availability for any up and coming players who aren't big fans of the Rodents.

Nobody has that though….i never heard about it until last weekend. The NCHC should get on espn+ that’s been awesome for college puck.

Agree, nobody has xfinity. I have directv and a little streaming. In st paul I can watch 10 college hockey games every weekend, but rarely UND. UND has virtually no exposure in the TC metro.

Nope. And each day that passes more and more folks use streaming apps.

Well they have a hell of a lot more than back in the day.  Back in the day you could get a free to air dish installed and pick up all the UND home games; other than that it was pretty much nothing unless they were playing Minnesota.

Expect a similiar lineup this weekend as last weekend against BSU:

UND will likely use a similar lineup as last weekend's sweep of Bemidji State.

UND coach Dane Jackson indicated that he does not believe center Ellis Rickwood, defenseman Bennett Zmolek or defenseman Jayden Jubenvill will return for the two-game set at St. Cloud State.

Quote

"Don't think so," Jackson said when asked if any of the players would return this weekend. "We're kind of unknown there, but I don't think so. We'll stick with the guys we have, probably."

We used to be midcos pride and joy

niw we are just another contract to them

remwmebr when they did away football games too

out side of usd how many they do

Midco has lost money on the UND deal since day one. They initially used it as lost leader to increase cable subscribers but with cable numbers decreasing, is the contract worth it anymore?  Let UND and the other schools produce their own programming, buy all the cameras, video production and so forth.  They will need still need a content platform to carry everything and I think that’s where Midco is aligning itself, a content provider similar to espn +.  Midco is already doing this with the summit league and CCHA.  I suspect they will bid high for the NCHC stream.

I'd love to see UND pull out any Gopher home games + the HOF destination games from Midco's rights in the future.

Market those to ESPN/Fox (FS1, Big 10 network), CBSSN. Optimistic that one of those networks would likely pick up the games. Getting those specific games on National TV in lieu of Midco is in the better interest of the school IMO. (worst case, you sell the rights off to Midco).

(This might get solved anyways once the 2026-2027 season ends if the NCHC goes to ESPN for streaming/TV rights.)

so you can watch the gooph game on big ten plus streaming on a Thursday afternoon?

And you think getting rid of programming people want will help cable subscriptions? It will just make the death of cable come quicker.

I highly recommend you check out Schlossman and Feldy’s most recent UND hockey podcast, “A Sweep of the Beavers.” Towards the back end of the discussion, they scout St. Cloud and have a conversation about the recent news of St. Cloud shrinking their ice sheet a little bit as well as the history of Olympic sized ice sheets and how smart UND was not to join the fad of the 90’s when building the Ralph. Interesting how 6 teams in the WCHA played on at or near Olympic sized sheets (Wisconsin’s was 200x97). Smart of UND to build an Olympic sheet for practicing purposes back in the day too.

I wouldn't say "nobody" has xfinity as I have it and also have Midco on in my cable package. The channel shows most of the UND home hockey games as well as UND home football games. It's a good channel to have to catch UND sports if you live in the Twin Cities.
