UND at SCSU - Visiting the Concrete Center

Big road NCHC series coming up against SCSU.
UND is up to #7 in the NPI while SCSU is at #14.

Always hard to sweep on the road, then factor in their big sheet and their potent PP.
SCSU has one of the best PP in the nation, currently at 31.3%.
Have to slow down Burnevik...6 of his 11 goals are on the PP.

Pretty big drop off in points after their top 3 of Gross, Burnevik, and Hall (18, 17, 16 points)...the next player has 8 points.

Glad that SCSU is getting some much needed improvements.  One year UND was there there was a power outage before the game and the game barely happened because of soft ice.  Before then the school wouldn't buy a generator for the facility as it wasn't in the budget.  The NCHC called soon after and the Herb got its generator!

MidCo has picked this series up the past new years.  Looks like we are out of luck this year now that they have Yawnastana’s home games on their TV schedule.

For those of you in the Twin Cities area that have Xfinity, Friday's game will be shown on the CW channel (808 in the SW Suburbs).

Yeah, there are a few games they used to pick up on the road that they haven’t lately.  Even the game in Bemidji they are trying to squeeze the extra bucks for the Midco plus.  Wonder if next time the contract comes up if UND thinks they can have better promotion elsewhere.  If they aren’t adding anything else to their package even with other sports, there are plenty of other streaming services to choose from.

The midco plus is a ccha thing. If anything midco can't just pull that feed it put it on cable. Unless those Bemidji games are televised locally but they are not.

While we are on the topic, Midco has corporatized the f out of Through these Doors since they took over producing it. Used to be 15-20 minute episodes but now it’s 5 minutes max most weeks. They’re lacking compared to the other content put out by schools

I'd argue this year's TTD episodes have been the best(in production & content) in quite a few years.  Jax seems to be giving them more access than Bubs, which makes a world of difference.

I do agree the access has been a great improvement, still feel like its lacking a bit though still compared to what it used to be. Think it can be a great tool for recruiting now days especially so would like there to be a little more content involved each week.

I've been thinking the same, it has become a cinematic highlight reel. TTD started as a behind the curtain look at the program and players .

TTD isn't much more than highlights from the previous weekend games anymore. There is hardly any in-depth reporting like there has been in the past.

That's basically how I feel.  I miss the original Brad Millertime videos!

Und should put it in the contract that they can broadcast the game from Bemidji. At least get it on midco locally.

This is a bigger problem than it seems. I can remember more than a few recruits over the years who have said that they got interested in the program by watching TTD. Given that our facilities remain one of our biggest attractions to potential recruits, I think it's a huge mistake not doing more behind the scenes stuff and letting people see just how comfortably our players live. A lot more programs have their own behind the scenes shows now as well, so even if just putting out glorified highlight reels was good enough at one time, it certainly isn't anymore

I think the episodes where the players take the camera for the weekend are the best ones. Watching them set up a screen to play chel in the bus on the drive down to Omaha was pretty awesome.

^^^ That was one of the better ones to date. Just let the players take the camera for a good chunk for each episode and then edit it down for the final cut. It's simple easy authentic content

Videos on our charter jets will appeal to WHL kids bussing from Prince George to Brandon.

I'd love to see UND pull out any Gopher home games + the HOF destination games from Midco's rights in the future.

Market those to ESPN/Fox (FS1, Big 10 network), CBSSN. Optimistic that one of those networks would likely pick up the games. Getting those specific games on National TV in lieu of Midco is in the better interest of the school IMO. (worst case, you sell the rights off to Midco).

(This might get solved anyways once the 2026-2027 season ends if the NCHC goes to ESPN for streaming/TV rights.)

Midco is not providing the calibre of coverage this program needs and deserves. I think they want to focus exclusively on South Dakota programming in the future. It may be time to start planning a future without Midco once the current contract runs out.

Where are you pulling this speculation from? We are lucky to have Midco Sports, and I doubt they're going anywhere.

They've slashed their budget. They've cut out almost all road games. And they've latched onto Augustana hockey and the CCHA with a vengeance. It is reasonable to assume they'll retrench into their home state of South Dakota and further cut back their coverage of UND athletics and everything else north of Dakota Magic casino.

I could be wrong, I hope I'm wrong, but if I'm right, we'd better have a Plan B to fall back on.

The Midcontinent Sports Channel has been available in the Twin Cities since last season; available on Xfinity sports package.  They show all the hockey home games and I'm thinking it's a big plus to have this availability for any up and coming players who aren't big fans of the Rodents.
