  1. "usually 100%" doesn't add up. Either he has always been right (100%) or he's usually right (less than 100%).
  2. Uff, and similarly on the game-losing goal he again didn't protect the slot and didn't do much to prevent the goal. Small sample size and he may be an outstanding player, but if so this wasn't a good game for him.
  3. He has shown some flashes of talent in today's game but has also been a bit sloppy at times.....and I think that was him who could have defended better on the Cathedral game-tying goal late.
  4. Umm, the opposite of what it says I voted for. haha. Should have kicked.
  5. Agreed. The stats don’t look great but the eye test was decent. We’ve seen most goalies struggle mightily in their first couple of starts in the Ralph, and by comparison I’d say HH looked plenty solid.
  6. Right. Skill is pointless if it is used carelessly and results in turnovers that go quickly the other direction. Use the skill to set up grade A chances, not dangle and spin around until one's pocket gets picked.
  7. Yikes, don’t care for that at all. The lettering in general looks poor and cheap, and are the STATE letter larger than the ST CLOUD letters? The husky seems awkwardly squeezed into the space and also looks like a Cracker Jack tattoo or like a 4th grader drew it onto the jersey with a sharpie. Tweak the relative sizes of things and have a color-filled husky and maybe there’s a chance, but as is I say hard pass.
  8. What refreshing statements from the rabbi (about forgiveness and "not canceling people") and the JRC as well in that article. I want to compare/contrast that to another situation we're all familiar with, but there's really no point in going there.
  9. Ottawa D Chabot seemingly injured, so Kleven might get a shot Thursday. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/35993800/senators-d-thomas-chabot-likely-miss-rest-season "In Chabot's absence, Tyler Kleven is expected to make his NHL debut against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday."
  10. Or maybe it's a private/personal matter that's just not any of our business. It feels strange indeed and I would have liked to see him get some chances over the past couple of months, but if there's something going on that's more than level of play or practice performance, that can be kept private. Maybe Schloss isn't pressing Brad or reporting anything because he actually knows something and is just being kind to keep it out of the public spot light.
  11. Overheard at the Ralph, from folks who seem to have some form of knowledge of the family, was that Tyler has been pushing his studies each semester and over summer, to be able to possibly wrap up his degree early. Who knows how true that is or if he'll accomplish it, but that might play a role in his decision. It sure sounded like the general idea was to move on after this season, but ya never know how things can change. And it's possible that my general eavesdropping was misinterpreted as well
  12. I thought the Chrona flop was embarrassing, but the last one where the DU guy ran into the Western guy (and then flopped) and drew a 5 takes the cake. What a joke. And that has single handedly ruined a good game because of the now 2 PPG on the major.
  13. Say what you want about Berry and staff but someone made a great decision last night in OT. Gaber had just been out for his shift with OMac when Blake and Jammer hit the ice. Once they got solid possession going in the O zone and Blake was buying extra time they snuck Gaber back on after only a short rest to pair up with Blake and win it. Don’t know if it was planned to try that or seat of the pants call on the fly, but it was brilliant.
  14. In Denver, wasn't that Kleven's 4th game misconduct? I thought that would by him 2 extra games now, per this rule: 22.2 Suspensions - A player who receives three (3) game misconduct penalties in the same season (including exhibition games) shall not be permitted to play in the team’s next regular-season or tournament game against an NCAA member institution. For each additional game misconduct penalty (e.g. four, five, etc.) assessed to the same player in the same season, the player shall be suspended for one (1) additional game. This shall not be part of a progressive penalty structure. Exhibition games cannot be used to fulfill the suspension for this violation.
  15. I didn't watch the game live but finally caught it on the DVR the other night. Schlossman's tweet, and a lot of the discussion on the board here, made it seem like they actually changed the call to add something new. In reality, during the game the ref did announce the 5 min major AND game misconduct....although he also stated it to be on "North Dakota's number 28", which obviously was wrong. Given the fairly violent nature of the cross-check to the head of the MIami guy, the misconduct was warranted. Blame the box workers for not recording it correctly, and maybe blame the refs for not checking the sheet more closely after the game before signing, especially since the infraction had just taken place, but what the league did actually seemed reasonable. Hopefully their comment about quality officiating and personnel matters being handled internally means that there will also be a little discipline to the officials for the mix up, but that probably depends on how much Don Adam likes them.
  16. Whew, awful turnover by Kleven almost cost them. That wasn’t NHL caliber clearing.
  17. While fair to ask the refs what they saw, blaming them without details indeed isn't fair. The ownership of those plays is the players', and after that the coaches, for possibly tolerating it. I would hope that a coach seeing that type of play would use it as a teaching moment at a minimum, and if there has been a pattern, I'd hope that the coach would discipline the players himself. Sadly, not all coaches are wired with a moral compass and will actually encourage goonish play, which is really sad. I don't want to unfairly judge the coach here, but if those plays were made by two different players, and neither was disciplined by the coach, I'd worry about a culture problem starting at the top.
  18. OMG, no place in the game for that crap. Plenty of opportunity to make a body check but took the chicken $&^@ way out. Nobody could possibly even argue that those weren't blatant and intentional. I'm not saying there was an absolute intent to injure, but those are about as obvious as you can make a kneeing penalty.
  19. "I can almost guarantee a Fighting Hawks’ victory on Friday night". Bold Dave, but I like your confidence, and I've generally been impressed by the accuracy of your picks over the years. Hope it works out tonight!
  20. Crazy to listen to the podcast and then follow it by reading the contents of that tweet. Talk about painting a picture in two different lights. It's all so sad.
  21. Either Golf Digest or GOLF magazine had a nice story on Cam Smith a few months ago and he really won me over too. Like you said, he is super down to earth (loves mowing his lawn), low key, and just seems so likable. Any of the contenders the final day at the Open would have made a good story, for a variety of reasons, and I was pulling for Rory, but it was also cool to see Smith make his charge and absolutely earn it.
  22. Very interesting. That one clip of Trognitz skating made him look like a bottom line Bantam B skater. What a bloodbath hockey was back then. So many names referenced seem to have been inspiration for Slapshot characters, and the feel of that video also had a Slapshot vibe to it overall. My guess is the eyebrow raising nameplate was "B Melrose"?
  23. Felt bad for Talbot (before puck drop even) for getting inserted into the series under the elimination game circumstances. He should have gotten a start in one of the first three games, not come in after a long layoff and the Wild in need of a savior. Seemed like a desperate move on the coaching staff's part.
  24. The drive up Pike's Peak is a must, and the walk across Royal Gorge Bridge is also pretty exhilarating, especially if the wind is blowing.
