I miss Big Z. Parker displayed some power and quickness in the spring game but that’s all I’ve seen of him. He isn’t real big. Broderick was a power runner in HS. I have no idea if he is ready. If we can play well and get ahead, I would get all 4 of those guys playing time. I would also get Romfo and Sulik a quarter each in case something ever happens to Jerry. 1 2 Quote

The Sicatoka Posted Monday at 06:28 PM Posted Monday at 06:28 PM Broderick is listed 6'0" and 240. Why do I suddenly have a ginormous grinchy smile on my face? 1 Quote

I miss Big Z. If I’m coaching I give SS 2 drives against Murray then sit him the rest of the game. Langama doesn’t play to preserve the shirt. Ride the remaining backs. Did I miss an injury to X? After that, yea, get the other qbs some reps throwing the ball. 2 Quote

Langama got one carry, a WR got two on jets. The rest was Sawyer and Jerry. Curious. Let's line up pro-set two backs behind Jerry ... 6 and 12 ... Quote

Would be a good game to get up early and let some young guys shoulder a big load from the backfield. Quote

UND92,96 Posted Monday at 08:57 PM Posted Monday at 08:57 PM A Tom Miller article on the status of a number of injured players was just posted on the Herald webpage. Here's the latest on Ziebarth: Quote Running back Gaven Ziebarth, who injured his collarbone at the end of a long run at Southern Illinois on Oct. 18, will begin practicing this week. "He'll do some non-contact stuff," Schmidt said. "Hopefully, a week from now, he'll have an opportunity to be able to come back. Ziebarth has been the surprise as far as where he's at. Few days after the surgery, he was already out of the sling and moving the shoulder. Just to get him out for (individual drills at practice), we can see where he's at the following week and see what the doctors say." 4 Quote

Mohr being the biggest surprise to me. 1 1 Quote

Despite the bizarre and recurrent criticism of Romfo, I believe he is the backup. Before anyone pisses all over their bike horn, maybe take a look at our last two opponents and how a walk on QB (who one guy thinks can’t play at this level) did against USD and NDSU last year. His 2 game totals included 38 of 53 passes (71%) for 356yds 4 TDs and 0 interceptions. He averaged 3 yds per carry and had 1 TD. This year against the same 2 opponents our QB was 37 of 68 (54%) for 347yds 0 TDS and 5 interceptions. He averaged 3yds per carry and also had 1 TD That doesn’t mean we change QB’s, it means we have a capable, experienced QB as our backup. The unhealthy obsession one guy has with our QBs seems to have convinced some others that if something happens to Jerry all hope is lost. Sulik also can step in but needs more time to develop. I’m not worried about the backup QB even if JTJ isn’t available. That’s only my opinion and I don’t ride my bike past FB practices nor have I claimed to be watching UND FB for 20 yrs, so what do I know? Maybe I’m wrong. I was too lazy to try to find the stats of the 2 QBs so I’m very thankful you dug them out. For some it won’t matter, but numbers don’t lie. 1 Quote

Siouxperman8 Posted yesterday at 04:11 PM Posted yesterday at 04:11 PM This is the type of game where we'd crap the bed in the past. Expecting/hoping it'll be different this year. Need to put them away early and not let them hang around and give them hope. 1 1 Quote

Gotta think they will head the way of Western Illinois soon. 1 Quote
