UND heads to upstate, and I mean upstate New York to take on Clarkson.  The Golden Knights are 1-3 and have managed to lose to Canisius (who loses to them?), RIT, and Penn State. Their one win was against the the then #1 team in the country in Happy Valley of all places.  Their goalies don't have great stats, and nobody jumps off the stat page IMHO.

Good time for a road trip for the group.  Get on a plane and spend some quality time together.  Or spend 30 hours on a bus and make it a real road trip.  Potsdam looks like an Oxford type location.  Small city that houses a private university with some charm.

Google tells me we have played Clarkson one time, and that game wasn't even in the United States.  Back in 2012 it was a 3-1 win in Winnipeg.  Sexsmith legend Carter Rowney with a pair of goals in that one.

Anyone making the trip?

UND sweeps.  5-1, and 4-3.

With Clarkson's horrible start, these are a couple of must win games for UND.
Need to go out there and take care of business, plain and simple.

-Need to get the PP back on track.
-Would like to see a couple of the guys get on the scoresheet and pick up their confidence...guys like Josephson, Menghini, Kernan, etc.
-Rebound games for Liver and Homer...both struggled a little on Sat.  Any chance we see Spunar in one of these games?

Beat the teams you're supposed to beat.

I always worry about officiating whenever UND plays out east. That could potentially be a factor…home cookin’ if you know what I mean.

Strinden needs to chill out a bit if that's the case.  ;)
Or get sat a game for Klee if needed?

This is of utter importance. This team can be absolutely lethal if they figure out the PP

One part of that is winning face offs while on PP.  They seemed to loose a lot of PP draws against the gophs, resulting in 200’ clears and a big loss of time.

Rickwood faces his former team, always an interesting dynamic in today's portal world.

He said in an interview last spring that he can’t wait to get boo’d. 😂

For sure.  I think they are set up to be similar to past UND teams where they roll 4 lines and wear down the other team.  Because of some very poor penalties, we weren’t able to do that the second night against Minnesota, which meant less time for Littler, Croal and Zakreski.  We were taking it to Minnesota before the penalty leading to their goal, taking the pressure off of them and letting them settle in.
This team needs to play to their depth strength and improve their power play, and they have a team that can be a force the second half.

I think its been said a lot around here, but I don't think we should feel uneasy about the team sitting at 3-1 after the first two weekends of the year.  Lets trust the new process and see where we end up at in April.  Get two wins this weekend and head into the home opener against a much improved Duluth squad sitting at 5-1.

Great opportunity to get the Spunnar into the nets this weekend.  Have Gibby go on Friday night, and then on Saturday you're playing for your Freshman goaltenders first win.
