You have lost your mind. Sounded like Schmidt required a few improvements before deciding to come here, like the nutrition. He didnt have to come here, so if he did, he wanted certain things to be in place so he could do it his way, taking from things he has learned at other programs. So you think they told him, ok sure we will improve nutrition etc. etc., but here is the thing Eric, you dont have total control of your coaching staff, you have to get approved from us before you can hire or fire certain staff. Ummm right.

Source?

This is spot on and I can't even image who 'us' could be that would try to control that.

Chaves isn't in a position to decide on assistant coaches and wouldn't want to.  Not sure who else would be.

you could play it the other way around...there are some people on here that have a crazy obsession of their own and it's is clouding their judgement when it comes to certain players and coaches over the last 20 plus years.....

simon and kostitch aren't the first....i can show you the DM's from people on here (not longer around so you can assume family or friends) when i had the audacity to say that Grant Aplin or Rooney wouldn't even make the team in fargo...

eric has dramatically increased the talent level almost overnight....but certain players (caden dennis experiment is in year 6 i think?) keep popping up like a whack a mole

I am willing to give Dennis the benefit of the doubt, obviously the coaches see value in having him on the field in certain situations. You never know when a veteran player is gonna make a play. Willing to trust the coaches who are at practice everyday.

I was thinking this may be setting up a future decoy.

The best decoy was when Q was in on the 1 yard line and he handed off for a touchdown against the bizons

We need to extend Schmidt and give the Assistance raises

100% with this.  We are seeing in real time a change in culture for the better.  I love Bubba as a guy and as a coach, but Bubba at 7-4 had reached his zenith and he never recovered from the loss to the Bison at the Alerus in 2021.

Schmidt and co needs to be rewarded for their work and if he is interested in long term in Grand Forks, we need to make sure that happens.

Could be completely wrong but I don’t get the vibe that Schmidt is trying to be here long term. In a good way.

And that’s exactly what we needed!

I think he stays for at least 1 Natty.

Love the game analysis in this thread

Earlier @Siouxperman8asked for qualifications to give an opinion on football in a football fan forum, so now I think everyone is a little thrown off on what they can/can not talk about
