ChadR Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 Anyone watch Through These Doors from yesterday? Looked to be a recruit in the weight room with his parents at the 2:30 mark. Quote

AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Was Siebell good enough to consider as a transfer down the road? Oddly that's a question to consider with the new transfer rule. USA hockey goalie of the year is no easy feat. Quote

Also touched a little on a couple of former Gopher commits back on the market in Joe Miller and Jake Braccini. I'd definitely have some interest in Miller. https://www.youthhockeyhub.com/news_article/show/1188340 Quote

Landing players in the portal will be important for filling in gaps, not only landing players, but making sure they will fit in with your team and not create any divisions, or jealousies. A lot of times when you get guys moving on it is all about improving their stock for the next level which could lead to a selfish attitude, but for the most part it should be common sense that NHL teams can spot that kind of attitude easily which wouldn't improve their stock. Some guys move on because they just want to win, which is common for any athlete, but you need to be leery that they will fit your culture on how to go about winning. Can you imagine how much more Jasper Weatherby would have been ripped if he went into the transfer portal to find a team that had a better chance on winning the NCAA title after all our losses to the pro ranks? Berry has said that they had to move fast to do their due diligence once players entered the portal, so I trust they know that players with a one and done scenario can just as easily rip apart a team as add value if they don't come with the right motives and attitude. I'm guessing the gophers pulled his scholly. I doubt Bubs would ever take their left overs. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 The portal makes having a solid, reliable HUMINT network more important than ever. 1 Quote

Sounds like Miller, Braccini, Warner, and possibly a Mittlestadt as well are guys that may not be in the plans anymore, and there were others that decommitted because they were pushed off, would imagine Boltmann and Jensen were in that category. I know I am missing some as well. I think that is going to be as common as the transfer portal, and even moreso because of the transfer portal and the Covid extra year. Quote

Like they mentioned on that podcast...if you have a difference maker that can come in and help Day 1, they have to bring in those kids. Sometimes kids have to be bumped or pushed back a year. Once you commit....the player has some responsibility as well to continue to develop. Definitely interesting situations. Quote

If you take on a bunch of guys that haven't developed, you are basically signing your own pink slip. 1 Quote

Wow....heard from a pretty good source he was leaning UND. I really havent seen him play...name just came up in a random conversation. Really interesting watching the recruiting landscape right now. Berry is definitely going to have to hammer the transfer portal as well as the later bloomers. Quote
