With Matt Mania expected to go OHL, the only skater remaining of the 15 on Brad's watch list is Gracyn Sawchyn. We got 4, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Duluth and Michigan got 2, and 2 went MJ.

Generic Bleu chipaz/gryndaz comment.

I was really hoping to add another high ender in there.

It’s got to be tough to get a good barometer of who has the skills to move on to the college ranks from the BCHL and who is putting up numbers based on the fact that the overall skill level is not consistent throughout.  You have about a handful of guys from the BCHL that get drafted on any given year which isn’t nearly as high as in the USHL, which is probably why guys leave the USHL to regain confidence.  So then the coaches have to determine if they are succeeding because of the competition and how those skills translate. That’s what they get paid for, but it is no wonder that they wait on many high school prospects until they see them perform against greater competition.

Very true, good post. I've tracked the BCHL for a while now, basically, kids have to put up video game numbers to be considered a higher end prospect. But even kids that can stick around a pt/gm or above pace can carve out good roles at the college level.

Decent number of NTDP 04s didn’t sign their NLIs today. Interesting

Any names of interest?

EDIT: did the research.

Michigan: Hunter Brzustewicz (awesome Polish name!), Frank Nazar, Gavin Brindley

Notre Dame: Logan Cooley

Minnesota: Cruz Lucius

BC: Ryan Leonard

BU: Michael Chambre

Leonard and Chambre are 05's called up from U17 and I don't think Brindley is a full time NTDP member so he might not announce it with them.

Nazar and Cooley are likely first round picks, Lucius is also a blue chipper. Polish dude is a bust.

Nazar and Cooley could be thinking OHL, Brindley too. Lucius has to be a MN lock, not sure there. Brz (who is not a bust) and Stramel are late birthdates so they could play a year in the USHL if their schooling isn’t accelerated.

Stramel signed. The two potential MJ defects must be far along in the decision to skip the NLI. Brzustewicz isn't going to be drafted, generally not a good sign coming from NTDP but there are a few every year.

Brz is really good. Late birthdate kid who isn't eligible to be drafted this coming year. Had a really bad injury last season and still working his way back; basically didn't play last year. He had a really good 5 Nations tourney last weekend. I could see him taking off moving forward. He was a 5 star heading in the Program.
