And football has nothing to do with the Summit League.   Give it a rest old boy before you stroke out.  I'm not interested in Summit football either.   Just get our house in order.

read my last post in the kick em out thread....read it

The funniest outcome is unlv leaves the mountain west and it becomes an even worse conference which is not out of the realm of possibilities.  Mountain west is barely holding on the way it is.

domino effect too...unlv leaves...then air force....then.......unm....

replaced by............montana, msu and und....

i hope cratter was being tongue in cheek.....

About what?

I have nothing against NDSU. I dont cheer for them but i also dont cheer against them either - just like i dont wish ill on my neighbors just because "sports rival." Its just societal conditioning.

Its exciting. Not to cheer for them but to watch it unfold like a good reality TV show. They did awesome in FCS.

Just look how exciting this website suddenly is because of something NDSU just did. Big W!

Im a UND sports fan i could care less what the Gophers or Bison do.

So you're going to cheer them on? Cripes, I think I am going to throw up.

I was sort of thinking the same thing.

fargo and ndac have forever been jealous of our true d1 titles...no matter how many 1aa titles they got they were always jealous of ours measuring up to minnesotas and bc and bu's and michigan and msu and other blue bloods....

what und has done recently with our facilites and alsonts and whatnot....ndac knew we were coming ....they would've paid 20 million to get this spot

I'm just happy they are done winning national championships until the end of time.  Even if they were quasi D1 national championships.

Its on you Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Georgia. Indiana.  Don't overlook NDSU on the recruiting trail.

First ….f&?@ ndsu

Glad they are gone. Tough to go to any game that their fans are involved. Won’t miss them a bit.

Now.  They have dominated this level for decade and half.  Can’t prove anything more.  But for the life of me I cannot understand why schools move up to the fbs?  There is chance to to ever win a championship again. They will have the pleasure of playing in the carpet cleaner bowl!!   Big time?

The only positive IMO is when it comes to recruiting they will be winning a lot of battles with local recruits.  Imo they will start winning the battles over the gophers with twin cities recruits and possibly badger’s for some Wisconsin recruits.

The mountain is almost on the same level of play as the Mvfc so I see no reason why they couldn’t be a constant 10 win team.  Boise is about the only perennial contender….the rest are nobodies.  Fargo will be super excited to be hosting UTEP and Wyomings of the world.  Zero rivals.

Finally…the cost !!?!  The travel alone would drain most schools budget .  They have to pay up massively for hosting.  The cost of additional 23 + players and the ridiculous NIL program.  All that money wasted to never win another championship.   Just play in the dirty crumb bowl

Has moving up really helped Appalachian st ? Coastal Carolina ?  Sam Houston? Georgia southern ?   Etc.  What have been the benefits?   I just don’t get it .  To go 10-2 or 11-1 and then travel to Greenberg Missouri to play in the cat litter bowl does not create buzz or add any benefits. Just adds to plane bill.

Wondering if there will be another one or two local schools leaving next year to join?  I just can’t  see UND getting an invite. Most likely sdsu….and/or sdsu msu and Montana   With that said I do not want UND to venture into that.  Nothing to gain everything to lose.

In the end.  Good riddance

Here’s a new thought. What if you play for NDSU and now you won’t be able to compete for a national title or a bowl game as they typically have to wait 4 years or so to be eligible for both. Now I imagine the team will stick together, but what if these things mean a lot to you and you decide to transfer to have a chance at a title? We could maybe get some of their players? I’m not sure if this reopens the transfer portal or not?

Here is something to chew on.

a lot of talk about travel costs, facility cost, scholarship cost, etc.

how about coaching staff?  Wyomng is at tue lower end of FBS, but…the head coach

Wyoming head football coach

Jay Sawvel earns an annual base salary of approximately $1.1 million,, with his 5-year contract totaling $5.8 million.

Kinda torn on it.  Been a season ticket holder since mid 2000s.  In last 4 years ive gone to 1 game and i was at chubs drinking beer by halftime.  Driving 200 miles each way…hotel costs…most games being snoozers.  I found the TV and then doing something else (hunt etc) easier.

I will miss the regional rivalries.  IMO thats what makes college sports thrive.

on the flip side, im looking forward to going to Vegas for games…better non-conference games (hopefully B1G, B12; PAC efc).

I feel like Schmidt is making headways to close the gap so to speak and UND will also flourish with this move.  Hopefully NDSU is kicking the door in for the FBS and in a few years UND, SDSU, USD and the Montana are in the same conference.

I don’t think you grasp that this is a move up. FBS>FBS.

Athletes want a challenge.

There better not be a freaking dime of state money to support this

There isn’t. But honestly, the state could fund all $17 million and still owe NDSU more for the discrepancy between the state funding for athletics between the 2 schools the last 10 years.

lol.  You mean using the funding model your prior president approved of?

Time will tell with how willing they are to schedule the nearest division I university in football (FCS vs FBS, should be a cake walk for NDSU, right?) … I think anyone being honest with themselves already knows the answer to that question.

And yet here you are claiming delusions while denying this past scheduling strategy  …

I’m sure UND will be in the FCS game rotation for NDSU. Maybe once every 5 years and always in the Fargodome if you are ok with that. Maybe $200k payout since your travel expenses would be just a buds trip with no hotel expenses.

Really? Making an FBS playoff game is less than winning an FBS national title? Kinda like saying making the Frozen Four is “meh” compared to winning a D3 title.

I'm saying, James Madison made it in the CFP. They got smoked by Oregon. If they are FCS and make the championship game...I think that is better

The ac will never schedule und

they will schedule the montanas and sdsu

if they did schedule UND I would demand $1 million for the game

just curious what kind of tv coverage they will get and on what channel, not the big dog wday

‘here’s hoping for some great tv times after dark on Wednesday

ndsu will be the smallest enrollment in the new mw ?
