YeahhhSiouxSioux Posted April 26 Posted April 26 The 15 scholarships vs 13 scholarships could have something to do with Title IX and the gender makeup of the school, just my uneducated guess. Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted Monday at 02:41 AM Posted Monday at 02:41 AM We have gone from a total disaster to some hope that we can win some games with an upside potential. Just need to wait and see if the new recruits can mold with the returning players. Wait and see how good the portal players are. There is some reason to be a little optimistic - maybe a 7th or 8th place team? Quote

He isn't playing around and that attitude will rub off on the current roster and attract players with a similar attitude. Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted Monday at 03:21 AM Posted Monday at 03:21 AM Hutter brought in some length and a quick veteran guard (is the Mayville guard a point guard - I think so) . Players that were good in high school and now have a chance to show what they can do. More local talent with most having multiple years left. Some that maybe originally went to a level too high or maybe just wanted to be closer to home. The returning players need to step up and get better. Not sure what we have there. Lots to like. Lots of questions marks. There is some hope Quote
ND-fan Posted Monday at 05:16 AM Author Posted Monday at 05:16 AM I like that Hutter has aggressively put together roster that appears to have talent and is young yet in that they have time to develop that talent here at North Dakota. He also has added couple of veteran players that should help leadership and knowing what it takes in playing full college season.. He also at same time got his coaching staff filled so they are already to start on developing this team. Two years ago it took Mallory until late summer to put her coaching staff together and then fired all them after the year. I agree this aggressive approach is also show with the players in that getting themselves ready by using this off-season time to develop their skills and work on their fundamentals. It appears to me there is going to be competition among players fighting for playing time and each of them getting better because each of them will be pushing each other to get more playing time. Now we will see how well he did in putting right pieces together to be able to compete in the Summit but this is optimistic I have been in over 10 years we are finally have mentality that we want to win now and believe we can compete win not in couple years but right now.. 1 Quote

My father actually hired him for his first head coaching job at Linton High School. Really. I didn't know he coached at Linton. I thought Minnewaukan was his first. He progressed moving to Lake Region women's basketball and then UND. Finally dethroned Amy Ruley as the best women's basketball coach. Quote

I wish Mal the best and I have nothing to base this on other than Hutton's success at Mayberry U, but I feel more confident that this coaching staff will be able to coach up the players they recruit. In addition they are recruiting players that fit their philosophy and plan. 4 Quote
UND92,96 Posted Monday at 01:09 PM Posted Monday at 01:09 PM One thing I expect UND to be better at next season is 3-point shooting. UND was 7th in the Summit in both makes per game and percentage last season, shooing under 30% as a team. Hughes, for example, made 57 3's and shot 33.7% this past season. And additionally Harvey, Hillesheim, Ohnstad, Klosterbuer and Harris should all be better shooters than most of the players who departed. Depth should also be much better, as UND was essentially six deep for most of this past season (five deep once Demers went down with an injury). Demers, Aumer and Hughes are all proven commodities at the college level, and I feel confident that between A. Miller, Ohnstad, Harvey, Hillesheim, Harris, Klosterbuer, H. Miller, Volmer and Mathern, you can find at least five more consistent contributors. Quote

Wxactly i felt like Mal and Motherwell were just trying to find best talent possible ala 4 star recruits but they didn’t fit their system Quote

If they were 4 star recruits then womens basketball has a different evaluating system then mens. The two 4 star recruits both went to Omaha (the worst team in the summit) and their coach got fired the next day after signing them. Coincidence ? So i dont think Mal or Motherwell even knew what talent was, because I didnt see much talent from most of Mal's recruits. 1 Quote
Popular Post YeahhhSiouxSioux Posted Monday at 04:56 PM Popular Post Posted Monday at 04:56 PM Really hoping that these girls mesh well with the system Hutter has in mind, as well as with the girls on the team already. Recruiting local talent is a great move. Building teams mostly out of the transfer portal can be dangerous (see Florida State football last year) but Hutter did not have much of a choice and I think played well with the hand he was dealt. 7 Quote

ND-fan Posted Wednesday at 04:43 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 04:43 AM I can’t imagine people will cheer for Schiller from Grand Forks if they are UND fans but I expect she will be treated with sportsmanship when she is here. Schiller ended her relationship here at UND and for many here in Grand Forks going forth she knowingly chose to move onto NDSU. She knowingly did this to her former team and community of Grand Forks because she thought it would improve her college career and received monetary compensation but it was sticking her middle finger up to the people that supporter her and gave her opportunity to show her talent to market her skills else where. If she and her family needed change then she have moved on to another school that would have given her fresh start but not insult to her local community by letting there major rival put this in the face of community. It will be interesting how this plays out but I wouldn’t have done this there is enough pressure to succeed in college sports without putting added pressure from local community and now expectations of fans from Fargo her new school. 3 Quote
gfNDfan Posted Wednesday at 05:15 AM Posted Wednesday at 05:15 AM It's just disappointing a hometown GF player who decided to play for the hometown college decided she was apparently destined for a "better place" - that happens to be 70 miles south and is not a better team by any means. Have fun making it all about yourself down there Jossy - you'll find that doesn't work so well either with Jory. #MADEyourBED #deadtome 2 Quote
