Godsmack Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Frank Serratore! For the hilarious hockey stories and the epic post game interviews! 3
78 und grad Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Wt? Are hockey insiders now thinking dane will be leading our hockey team to bigger n better things? If he’s hired, our program will go nowhere. We need new blood. Go sioux 2

Cratter Posted March 25 Posted March 25 14 minutes ago, AJS said: Disagree. Who knows how it will work out and Jackson could end up being the right call, but if the two options were Jackson or anybody else. I'm guessing the fan base would prefer anybody else. You underestimate the Facebook soccer mom crowd & he's such a "nice guy" crowd. One choice is difficult and unknown. The other is the easy button. I think a lot of casual fans would be fine with the easy button and don't wanna "rock the boat." The AD is unlikely to put his neck out on the line for an "unknown, non UND" coach..... Welcome to your new position Dane Jackson! 1

Oxbow6 Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Problem is WTF else is there to do around here November to March on the weekends regardless of the coach. 2
gfhockey Posted March 25 Posted March 25 You’d think Chavez would stick his neck on the line. His seat already is warm. Might as well risk it and get the home run 1
rochsioux Posted March 25 Posted March 25 My guess is that they opened the coaching search with the hope of getting Hak to say yes. Since it appears that it won’t happen I suspect Dane will be named the next head coach by the end of the week. Not the way I would like to see it go but I don’t get to decide. Another tourney miss or two or continual first round failures in the next few years and we will be looking again for a new coach and also a new AD. 3

In this situation what coach being hired will move that needle to increase sales. You have a known commodity and then the unknown. I want a coach who will let the players play for why they were brought here not to fit a square peg in a round hole of a system.

Dave wanted to wait until after the NHL regular season to see if he'll land an NHL job, but the University didn't think that was an option. Dave has fully endorsed Dane. He's currently the frontrunner, but there is mutual interest from Blashill and another external candidate (hoping Raboin). If it's Dane it won't be what we want but he has had numerous opportunities to leave for the NHL w/ Dave and has stayed loyal to UND hoping that he would eventually get this job. I think Dane deserves a shot. I think all of the current players respect Dane and I don't think the transfers will be as bad if he gets it. Then the question is why they didn't just let Brad finish out his contract. 1. The off the ice issues and divided locker room were concerning. 2. What do you tell future recruits about the coaching if there isn't a deal in place knowing Brad's contract was going to expire. All things are pointing towards it being Dane. My theory. Chavez told Berry "you need to get rid of X staff member". Berry said "you'll have to fire me". So Chavez did. Just a theory.

crb1 Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I was pretty excited this morning. I really thought we might actually be going after Raboin once Hak was out of contention. Now I feel deflated. 2
cberkas Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Hak endorsing Jackson would be my red flag of nope. Dane could end up like Albie at BU. A big mistake of hiring someone on the staff. 3

It's been sad to see the product fall so far that I turn down free suite tickets because it's not worth the drive. Was really hoping for an exciting change of direction, but it really sounds like 40+ pages of maybes will just end up being Dane. Kind of the run up of picking the new nickname with the possibility of distinguishing ourselves with something creative — instead Fighting Hawks. UND has a history of safe decisions, while NDSU continues a run of dominance. 1

AJS Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I'll have to see it to believe it. Hiring the assistant coach from the coach you just fired is a bridge too far for me to really believe. Chavez has us rattled today, but he'll come through in the end. No way it'll end up being Jackson! 1
78 und grad Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Hang on a minute. Please tell me the sioux sports forums got hijacked. That AI Bots are leading us to believe the next coach is already on staff. Earlier today i was excited. All the talk seemed to point to a new young coach being hired from outside. Almost makes me ill to think about it. Please please change th narrative. New blood will replace berry? Go sioux
gfhockey Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Look at his track record hired mal former asisstant new soccer coach you may ask? und football Schmidt former assistant only he didn’t was sather
