I agree. I believe our student section has been weak for years. Our non-student fans aren’t any better. As a fan base we do travel well and can get loud. Our band is great. I don’t believe we generate the same energetic atmosphere we once had. 

Yzerman19 points out what a difference the fans can make to create an energetic atmosphere and he is correct. Penn State’s entire fan base knows their cheers. Same for University of Wisconsin fans.
At a Regional final in Madison years ago, their entire fan base, including the “cotton tops” knew their cheers. Wisconsin also has a number of songs in addition to their fight song and Alma mater and they all know them. They play them at graduation, weddings, reunions etc.  

We don't have that right now. We had the “Snake Pit” in BB many years ago, we had the “Farce” for a number of years. If you sit next to those fans having beers, a lot of their stories involved their shenanigans. This group of students can get together in 15-20yrs and reminisce about yelling “he sucks sh..”.  We older fans are just as guilty.  The best fans don’t need to wait until we are back at the F4.  We need to do the little things as fans that might fire up a team or impress a recruit and their families.  We need to dig a bit deeper for our favorite sports do we don’t loose key players cuz of NIL, and can afford to incentivize if necessary, key recruits to come here.

For those of you that think this is a layup for Dane Jackson, that is not the case. He may very well get the job but he certainly has competition. This is not a slam dunk for him.

If true, I don’t think he is coming to GF for a vacation. 
Don’t believe it is for an interview either. No way he would resign as an assistant coach just to interview for head coach. 
My guess is he would be named head coach or at least an assistant to the new head coach.

We do not know the finalists yet. My guess, if the hire is made tomorrow, I get  an official email from UND today for my FOIA request about the finalists. 

The guy who runs open records responds quickly and is very reliable, and he said he'd send it to me once made available.

Agree - Part of the problem is how the Ralph manages the game - Stops in action aren't viewed as a time to fire up the crowd - especially after some great or physical play on the ice - it sees it as a time to sell more ads or blare some nonsense music or both.  Steamatic races are mildly interesting but have nothing to do with hockey or the play on the ice - They have no idea how to fire up a crowd at a hockey game and from what I can tell don't care very much.  Their big idea lately is to invest a lot of money on some system that rotates and flashes lights into the crowd - sometimes into people's eyes.  The gigantic scoreboard could certainly be put to better use during breaks.  The other problem, of course, has been our style of play lately - especially in the 3rd period.  What would be an appropriate cheer when we go into a defensive shell?  - "Clutch the stick harder"?
