i was drinking last night, but working and thinking today.  The bottom line is this is absolutely a key moment in our future.  SCSU has fallen big time since the start of the NCHC...Duluth had a run, built a killer arena, but they are now falling- the best player in the country this year bailed after his freshman year there.  NCHC is a formidable college conference, but we are facing the big big money guys

if this "super conference" thing is legit...it's gonna get harder and harder......

Is Duluth really falling though? If we are going to take the past 10 years of Berry's time here let's at least compare the last 10 years of Duluth. They are 3 years removed from a regional final and 4 years removed from a FF birth and had a high probability of being the first team to 3 peat the year covid shut us down. I don't think the wheels are falling off as fast as they have at UND.

Posch signed with Avs. SCSU back to drawing board.

Unless we can steer into the NIL world, we are going to be in trouble.  Best players in college hockey right now are making $150k cash plus a ride.  There are rumors of the most elite being offered $1M to go to certain programs.  We gotta deal with this, make a decision and move forward.

Brad S brought up something that made sense we have had 4 coaches on the bench all year where most teams have 2-3. Assist. Coaches traveling and scouting players building relationships with coaches and GM’s

I was intrigued by the idea of considering Bryn Chyzyk as a possible GM to help orchestrate the scouting, recruitment, nil management.

Chyzy is absolutely one of the best people in hockey with an amazing future

How big of a donation to NIL will KEM be making and will it be earmarked solely for hockey?

Guessing Sanford $ flows more freely than KEM $. Another reason Raboin wants to stay at augie?

We should work on courting more donors and not rely on one donor for everything.

Diversification is key going forward for us to stay competitive.

I think where I get fired up the most is with comparatives.  UND hockey should never be compared to Duluth, St Thomas, Augustana, Minnesota State, Bemidji State, St Cloud State, Long Island, Bentley...we need to be in the conversation every year with BU, BC, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota

Add Denver. They are arguably the upper echelon - highest standard - measuring stick of the last 10 years.

I thought Auzzo and Swish gave a good argument for Jax on the Live in Five Pod today, but that is just my opinion.

Definitely feel a little better about Jax after listening to them. If you are after the hockey update jump to 33 min.  They cover Chyzyk as GM and what type of leader Dane will be.  Trigger warning for some -  there is a fair amount of BB love at the start.

I get why ppl think a Jackson hire wouldn't be exciting but that's discounting the amount of control and influence you have when you are an assistant vs the responsible party.

As an assistant your job is to provide advice and counsel but carry out the policy of the head person.  Same as a middle manager in a business organization.

But how you are received by the team changes when you are the final say on things.  Your ability to influence those who report to you changes significantly because they know their future is in your hands.

So that dynamic isn't being well considered in this thread.

Add to that the likely influx of new assistants, etc.  Potential exists for significant change in performance.

I'm not saying I think Jackson is, or is not, he best choice.  Just that I think he could be a great choice.

Also, it would seem strange that if Jackson is the top choice the announcement wouldn't come more quickly.  I suppose it is possible a full search is being done and Jackson could still rise to the top of the pool.   If so, I think we can feel even better about that.
