UND @ WMU-A trip to the zoo.

Good sweep against the dogs.  We for the moment stay ahead of Denver who had a sweep in Miami against a team that is dead in the water.  They get their next dead in the water team this weekend as they host Stearns county's finest hockey team, although Cathedral is always good.

We hit Lawson this weekend and the Penrose Cup will be in the building.  Four points and the Broncos win the cup outright for the first time in the league's history.  They got a two point weekend at Mullett against a testy Sun Devils squad.

I'm not a pairwise predictor but thankfully others are and can tell us where UND will sit with a split or a tie and a win, tie and a loss etc.  Currently 18th.  A win plus any result that isn't a loss would be ideal.  

Our goalie situation is settled for now.  TJ has been good two weeks in a row, and the net is his.  I liked our lines this week.  Guys who don't produce in top 6 rolls should be on the fourth line and see limited minutes.  Nice to see OMac get going last night, hopefully he gets on a roll here.

The prediction:

The Lunatics give #4 a tough time, and we get a split and possibly watch them skate the Penrose around a bit.

Interesting that no games at Lawson or Goggin (the two eastern time zone locations) are on CBSSN this year. Those Toledo vs Kent State basketball games must get better ratings.

We need to get enough points to get ahead of Omaha this weekend.  Hopefully Arizona State doesn’t have a letdown when the Penrose is pretty much out of reach for them.

I hope I'm wrong but there's is nothing that thinks UND steals a game in regulation after watch two night with these two teams at the Ralph.  Bump is just different.

Let’s not forget, it took a dumb penalty by Kunz for Western to beat us on a power play goal in overtime in the first game.  The second game was just a disaster.

Went to ASU vs Western last night. Both teams played with an edge. Some big hits and a lot of shots on goal. Everyone needs to bring their A game.

Wouldn't be surprised if they pick up the UND-UST game at the X.

With how well they’ve played the last few games, a guy’s gotta wonder how they shuffle things when Perron comes back in. My guess is Berry would put Croal as extra skater and throw Perron on the Boisvert line with Littler to only change one line from what has given you recent success.

Croal has been so good at his role that at the very minimum he should be extra skater. No way he should be taken out of the lineup. But I guess that also hinges on how healthy Emery is and whether or not we need Komzak just in case. 

For the sake of team speed and overall value, I’d rather see Kunz as the extra skater or just riding the pine altogether but we already know that won’t happen.

Croal has to have a regular shift from here on out...the guy works too hard to sit or only use as an extra skater.

Absolutely. If we want to get back to North Dakota hockey, Croal needs to be in the lineup.

WMU has been a wagon (hockey term) for most of the season. Though they have lost to BC and Michigan State, they haven’t had a series of losses at any point this season. I predict they lose at least one game to us and maybe not lose again this season.

Everything on the line this weekend. All about home ice / avoiding Denver. Split is a good result. Anything more and although it won't matter for PWR, really continue to build momentum. Anything less and they are in a really bad spot.

I guess Arizona State hasn't wrapped up home ice yet though.  I would guess we would want Arizona State to sweep Omaha though.  If not, let both games go to overtime so neither team gets the 3 points.

I'm ok with a #4 ASU #5 UND series in the desert. Have clubs...will travel.
