Need to find out what he does for assistants. I don’t know what to prefer but seems like he needs to turn over at least half so players know that things have changed not same old same old

I believe that one of the things that came across loud and clear was an answer to a post last fall regarding goals and expectations.
President Armacost, Bill Chaves and Eric Schmidt have set goals of, and expect to win, conference and national championships.

Yes, I would think the first two years will be “buildings years.” But I think the positive vibes will be enough to put more in the W column.

Also, having Bubba, with his football knowledge and knowing first hand the needs of the program, in some admin/fundraising position will be a huge asset!!!

I’m guessing you’re right and most have been decided.  I’m curious to find out and wonder when we’ll know.

I love that he talked about player confidence, because I think that is a huge thing.  In our football and hockey programs, all too often I don't see that swagger that you need in a Championship caliber team, in fact I would say many times the body language is the complete opposite, which may be why we went on an o'fer to end the season.

I saw that swagger and home and when the crowd was into it. Other than that, usually never saw it on the road

When Schmidt talks about building confidence and believing in players, I can certainly name two offensive-side coaches that should be looked at closely. Definitely played into our struggles. I believe he will make it right. I am excited to see what he can do here.

I think the players have already received a clear message that things have changed. Eric needs to bring together a staff that can recruit the right players,  then develop them to reach  their full potential. The fact that the team struggled to get to the next level doesn’t mean none of them can coach. Schmidt can figure that out better than we can. Regardless of how many (if any) of the old staff is retained, the HC needs to get them to buy in to how he wants things done, and then make sure the staff and players accomplish the stated goals.

Without naming names, 3-4 coaches on staff could remain but potentially under different titles for a couple of them...anything more than that and my current enthusisasim level will dip a bit.
