I’d be fine with Bubba taking over that spot. Good things happened back in the day when Roger Thomas went from FB HC to AD (minus the decision to not go to D1 along with xDSUs).

I don't know him personally, but Josh Morton seems like an ideal candidate--UND football guy, has power 4 experience from his time at Michigan State and knows hockey from his time at UND, MSU and now Augie.

I responded that I was refuting the claim that Bubba had never won a playoff game in 11 years, which was factually incorrect. You can put whatever you want next to it, but it did happen.

Morty folded like a cheap tenant during a thunderstorm at We Fest when it came to being stripped of Fighting Sioux.......but is clever like a fox.  I could back this.  Bubba is getting up there in age but financially frugal.  Either right now over Cesar Chaves.

On field (and sideline) performance leaves a ton to be desired with Chaves, but if you look at the non game-day stuff, it's clear he's done an incredible job of fundraising and bringing in new facilities to set the teams up for success. Definitely room for improvement still with the soccer field and GameDay basketball experience, but the training facilities are top notch.

I don't think P3 projects should be counted as fundraising and the fundraising for the Pollard addition took forever, and it's way smaller than originally planned.  Happy they got it done, and they were creative, but I strongly disagree that he deserves any credit for fundraising.

How many years has Kansas State been on the schedule vs when the others were scheduled - that might be one reason.

He had very little to do with fundraising

It may appear that way but the fact is that it is just the opposite!

I think Josh Morton is doing a great job and is a perfect fit for Augie moving forward...maybe he retires there and it's his last job.

Agree this could be a reasonable role for him.

I don't understand others that are trashing him on here.  Criticizing the decision the coaches made to start him and then not giving Jerry playing time during the year is fair.  But Simon didn't make himself the starter and I'm sure busted his a$$ all year and gave all he had.

He played with an injured shoulder last year. I have no idea how much it affected his throwing.  I was told the main reason he started was his leadership ability. The team supposedly gravitated to hm.
After watching spring ball none of the top 3 QB’s have moved into the starting spot. It seems all 3 have more “zip” on their throws. It will be tough for him to move back into the top spot after missing spring ball. If he comes out of summer workouts and fall ball as the starter he will have earned it. Schmidt and Fruechte will play whoever gives this team the best chance to win.
