I wore a single digit number at UND.  There was nothing special about it back then but it was one of the few available and that's what they gave me.  My username might provide a clue as to what number that was.  I was in no position to request anything.  Just happy to have a jersey and spot on the team at that point.

Student-athletes now value numbers 0-9 the most.

It’s another way to ramp up competition (and earn those numbers), and anyway to boost up competition is a good thing.

Big things coming …

By the numbers. UND vs FCS scholarship opponents. Comparing Spring 2025 vs Fall 2024 rosters. Turnover per team.

My thought would be successful teams the previous year would want low turnover. NDSU / USD for example, should be able to reload. SDSU / Montana on the other hand, a bit more of an unknown. Without getting into the weeds (impact players vs non-scholarship, ect), won't tell the entire story clearly, but thought it was interesting.

School             #
Murray State 66
SDSU 48
Montana 43
SIU 43
YSU 41
Indiana State 39
Portland State 32
NDSU 30
UNI 29
UND 28
USD 24

What are the numbers for Mt State?  Just curious how they'll look next year.

When do they practice and are practices open to public?

They are not open to all. Have to fill out guest form if you want to attend.

Article in the GFH this morning says they are open to the public but you must fill out the online Google form prior to attending.

How many on the Spring roster do you think are going to find themselves in the portal? What positions are they a bit bloated? Where do they need to add? I'm hoping we see +/- 7.

Position Count

WR 12

DL should be broken down into tackles and edges.  We may need more of both and may lose some of them after spring ball.  Same with LB may have some change after spring.

“Most decisions are already made” is a definitive statement. I can definitively say that you are dead wrong. Back track some more

Most is a little far, but decisions do get made early and certain players will get more opportunity than others.  Obviously these are different coaches, but I saw this up close back in the day so I know it happens.

Yup, I know that, just had to bring that post back to reality because it was very misleading. Spring ball is a huge tryout for a bunch of guys. Some dudes need to show huge progression to stick around.

So you're saying that Eric will be showing some players the door?

Offense is basically set. Rotate a few receivers perhaps. QB1 couldn’t lose job last year after being chosen off of 5 yard passes in practice. Defense last years starters and the new transfers you can plug in. Leaves a few spots left open. Please don’t break my heart and follow through with real competition for spots everyday until January.

Done with football.

I hate to hear about injuries ending a career.  I wish him all best and hope that he is staying in school

lot of great quotes in this article. We needed this coaching change sooooo badly. I stood by Bubba when many didn’t,  But I get it now. Glad to have Eric here.

Coach has the team moving in the right direction.  The offense is going to be explosive.  More work on defense to get stop.  Eric will get it there by fall.  #JYDs in the making.
