I don’t know, after reviewing the hit, it seemed like a legit penalty call to me, and it was made by CCHA officials so I give them credit for calling it. I'd be mad at our player for using an elbow at the end of an unnecessary hit. Reminded me of Cooley losing the NC game for the Gophers, never give the refs a chance to influence the game. 3 Quote

So the infraction must’ve happened uncalled, Mankato somehow gains possession of the puck and scores and then Berry challenges the missed call. Right on. Thanks! Yeah i think the missed major happened about 1 minute before the goal was scored. 1 Quote

The Sicatoka Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Expect an even more spirited purple cow performance tonight. If UND isn’t ready it’ll get run out of the barn. Satisfied or hungry. We shall see. 2 Quote

Yep, you’re absolutely right. UND would’ve challenged regardless, they just needed a stoppage of play to challenge the missed infraction, even if Mankato hadn’t have scored. 1 Quote
The Sicatoka Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Lined it up, behind play, arguably dirty. The play they want out of hockey. 1 Quote

The Right call was absolutely mad, but I've be made as the penalty didn't contribute to the goal being scored. Having a goal disallowed and receiving a 5 minute major totally turned the momentum. If the Ref makes the call right away when it happens it wouldn't hurt MSUM as much. With the Ref missing the Call, there is no other way to call it. I laugh at the MSUM blaming the Ref for the game. The Ref actually tried to help by missing the call, it was only after UND challenged the call that they had not choice, but to make the call. Quote
nodakgirl93 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Per Schlossman Caleb MacDonald needed stitches after the shot he blocked. Being down two defenseman is certainly not ideal. Hopefully they can both play tonight. Quote
petey23 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Can't even imagine what the Michigan board looked like a couple of weeks ago when Minnesota State went into Yost and dumped the Wolverines. 1 Quote

nodakgirl93 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 I really hope we see Hobie tonight. I know TJ has more college experience and Berry has a thing about how they play in practice during the week but you can't keep sidelining your underclassmen goalies for 5th year players every year. 3 Quote

Can someone explain the sequence of events that led to both the major penalty AND the goal being disallowed? I can’t quite wrap my head around how one thing led to another or were somehow related. Mankato 15 took a draw against Boisvert and the beginning of that shift - Boisvert took exception to 15 being a bit too frisky on the draw setup and pushed 15 back gently, glove to helmet. They reset, puck was dropped, hit occurred, then a bit later #3 was ‘scored’. 1 Quote
brianvf Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Hobie gets the start tonight. Both Zmolek and Macdonald out. Ouch. Quote

AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 That 3rd D pairing hopefully stands tall and proves themselves tonight. 1 Quote
Username Taken Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Hopefully they can find some chemistry offensively. Last night was sloppy. Nothing crisp. Puck seemed to be bouncing as much as the stream. Quote
brianvf Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Really hoping that none of these injuries are too long-term. A rough gauntlet of games coming up...will need to be healthy. 1 Quote

That pair Junenvil and Komzak was beyond bad during the exhibition. Both on ice for 2 even-strength goals and both were ugly. I’m guessing those 2 will rarely be on the ice at the same time because they would be a liability. Assume someone else will pair with them each time they are out. This game could get scary because Kato will be forechecking hard knowing out youth and lack of speed outside of our top 3 D tonight. But Strathmann getting elevated to a top 4 and Jubenvil getting thrown into the fire will pay huge dividends down the road. Quote
