This. But yet we are suppose to sit around and wait until our QB gets more games under his belt as a starter. I'd rather put Jerry in now, let him learn, he will take a few lumps yes....but I'd rather see the future who has a high ceiling....than already be at the rooftop of a one story house.

Same goes for Kai....and probably Deng.

Even Michigan State gave Tommy reps in a 21 point loss.

Not terribly surprised by the result, given the talent we have at the QB position, which at very best is only average for FCS.

Having said that, this game was lost by the defense IMO.  The offense actually settled in on that long drive when it was 14-0, and that is just what was needed at the time.  The D just couldn't answer the bell.

This archaic 3-4 scheme just can't get stops against modern offenses. It has been a very long time since UND has had a defense that excels, and I feel like it could be because they are essentially running the same scheme since 1992.

Our season sort of went downhill after the big win against NDSU last year.  I'm hopeful the opposite will be true after this loss.  Perhaps this will be a needed wakeup call after the mostly impressive performances against the "fluffy" part of the schedule prior to this game.

But hey - If the Bison ever go back to the option we'll be ready

You’re absolutely correct. As much criticism as our passing game currently gets, anyone who knows football clearly can see that the major issue at this point is the defense. With the NDSU game, after the first three possessions (1 for UND, 2 for NDSU), it was already 14-0. How is that on the offense? It’s not.

I completely agree that the defensive scheme is an issue, but it goes beyond that. The only defense that Bubba and his relatively inexperienced (and inbred) defensive staff know is what they’re running. As I said in a different post, if you want UND to change defensively, you need a coaching change with the new philosophy that comes with it.

Speaking to other staffs, you’ll hear the on-the-field opinion quite quickly on UND defensively, and it’s not necessarily positive. I don’t expect anyone to take my word for it, but let the career moves of Jake Landry and Danny Freund do the talking then.

The offense going 3 and out certainly doesn’t help there.  It was a team effort on the loss Saturday.

Sure, all 3 phases; not good at all. Comes down to overall leadership of the team… which falls on whose shoulders again?

I would say special teams were a wash.  Each had one good return, both took turns kicking the ball out of bounce and both made field goals when given the opportunity.

In a dome how do you kick the ball out of bounds?

First kickoff was terrible.  Generally on a play like that the returning team is inside the 20.  Instead we have terrible coverage getting blown up everywhere and they are near mid field and they have set the tone for the game.

As an aside, this was my first time inside the Fargodome.  I was shocked at what a dump the place is. Any NDSU d-bag disparaging the Alerus needs their head examined.  Not sure what they’re going to do if they can’t get that vote to pass.

It shouldn’t pass

Why  would you dump money in that pit and there is no plans for more seats

‘people are tired of more taxes and no you can’t touch the legacy fund

Maybe but I would rate the view better at the Fargodome more of an incline than the Alerus.  Up higher and see the field better.

Both QBs need playing time

jerry needs meaningful time or he will be gone after Xmas

What do you base this on? He is a red shirt freshman getting his practice reps and supporting his teammate.

Look at the other scores within the conference. - we are still on track for at least 8-4. Now I am NOT saying I am satisfied with that but I will say I will find ways to enjoy the season rather than b!tch and moan through it.

He very well may stay but if he is as good as many think, Danny could try to get him to go to SDSU.

"I've got to do a better job to get our team ready to go on the road and play high-ranked teams in the country," Schweigert said. "I'm going to take a look at how we're preparing.

It’s year 11.

Reminds of Bill Murray’s character trying to get Ground Hog’s Day right!

Fargo dome is not just a dump for bison games but I refuse to go to a concert there. Rather just not go but fortunately most of the good concerts go to grand forks

Feeney wants to play. That’s why he left when he did and has 2 years to play somewhere. Sounds like he is still working out and coaching his lil bro. Not sure SDSU is the team that wants him.
