I'd rather put Jerry in now, let him learn, he will take a few lumps yes....but I'd rather see the future who has a high ceiling....than already be at the rooftop of a one story house. Same goes for Kai....and probably Deng. Even Michigan State gave Tommy reps in a 21 point loss.

Having said that, this game was lost by the defense IMO. The offense actually settled in on that long drive when it was 14-0, and that is just what was needed at the time. The D just couldn't answer the bell. This archaic 3-4 scheme just can't get stops against modern offenses. It has been a very long time since UND has had a defense that excels, and I feel like it could be because they are essentially running the same scheme since 1992. Our season sort of went downhill after the big win against NDSU last year. I'm hopeful the opposite will be true after this loss. Perhaps this will be a needed wakeup call after the mostly impressive performances against the "fluffy" part of the schedule prior to this game. But hey - If the Bison ever go back to the option we'll be ready

As much criticism as our passing game currently gets, anyone who knows football clearly can see that the major issue at this point is the defense. With the NDSU game, after the first three possessions (1 for UND, 2 for NDSU), it was already 14-0. How is that on the offense? It’s not. I completely agree that the defensive scheme is an issue, but it goes beyond that. The only defense that Bubba and his relatively inexperienced (and inbred) defensive staff know is what they’re running. As I said in a different post, if you want UND to change defensively, you need a coaching change with the new philosophy that comes with it. Speaking to other staffs, you’ll hear the on-the-field opinion quite quickly on UND defensively, and it’s not necessarily positive. I don’t expect anyone to take my word for it, but let the career moves of Jake Landry and Danny Freund do the talking then.

Sure, all 3 phases; not good at all. Comes down to overall leadership of the team… which falls on whose shoulders again?
NDRA
I would say special teams were a wash. Each had one good return, both took turns kicking the ball out of bounce and both made field goals when given the opportunity.

Shawn-O
Can someone with more knowledge of the program please explain to me why Jerry didn’t get any late 4th quarter reps? Asking for myself, not a friend.

Generally on a play like that the returning team is inside the 20. Instead we have terrible coverage getting blown up everywhere and they are near mid field and they have set the tone for the game. Popular Post wheelsup
This game was not fun.. it sucked in person and when rewatching. Our defense.. uffdah.. zero pressure on bison QB's all day. Closest thing to pressure was the Rucker almost sack at the end of the 2nd quarter where he totally whiffed on Cam. That could have changed the game we would have gotten the ball back and had the opportunity to score at the end of the quarter.. instead they convert and then get a FG.. We need game-changing plays like that. The biggest disappointment of the bubba era has to be the defense.. A defensive minded head coach who cant put together a defense that can regularly hold decent teams under 30. Thats bubba's biggest failure in my book. Two positions on the offense that I am amazed we dont have better options.. Romfo and Demontenac.. both had turnovers in the 2nd half.. Demontenac has had turnovers and drops in every game although he did have one great catch this year. Romfo's stats look respectable.. all of them were in the 4th quarter when the game was over. HIs fumble on the first play of the 2nd half was terrible. I was hoping that our 2nd half adjustment would be good and I still had hope... Too many unforced errors Ziebarth is a dude.. it looks like the injuries in RB position are starting to pile up. Bye week is at a good time for the RB room. O-line played like they lost 4 starters for the first time this year. While I would never blame the refs for the whole gems the bison clearly got their moneys worth. The two PI call in the first half were super weak.. there was significantly uncalled holding even the NDSU homer announcers commented on it multiple times. My favorite non-call was on 3rd and 1 early in the 2nd half.. Pedigo fights through a terrible non-call hold/tackle from behind.. somehow makes the tackle and with a super generous spot the Bison somehow had a first down and that late hit call on rucker was absolute crap.. If Romfo is the best QB in our QB room.. I cant imagine anyone wanting the other guys through the portal. Why in the heck did romfo even play in the 4th quarter. One of my biggest complaints is lack of development of depth in the QB room. The game was basically over.. Romfo had done nothing in 3 quarters.. give the next guy a chance. Lets see if he can do anything. Tommy is getting more playing time at Michigan state than our backup QB's.. its totally depressing. Anybody crapping on Feeney needs to get a grip.. who would want to be a backup QB at UND.. even when the starter sucks the backup never gets a chance. I still have a lot of hope for this year.. Our schedule sets up decently for our team and Im hoping for the reverse of last year. Last year we beat NDSU and then sucked the rest of the year... this year we lost to NDSU and Im hoping for a steady trend upwards. Hopefully get healthy during the bye week and then kick some UNI butt.
Popular Post Shawn-O
As an aside, this was my first time inside the Fargodome. I was shocked at what a dump the place is. Any NDSU d-bag disparaging the Alerus needs their head examined. Not sure what they’re going to do if they can’t get that vote to pass.

CMSioux
Look at the other scores within the conference. - we are still on track for at least 8-4. Now I am NOT saying I am satisfied with that but I will say I will find ways to enjoy the season rather than b!tch and moan through it.
