Johnny Five Posted Tuesday at 02:24 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:24 PM Vigen blew it at the end of the 1st half. Actually, perhaps the entire first half. Mellott didn't get asked to throw much in the first half, but when he did he looked like he was throwing with the wrong hand. He heated up in the second half, but when they NEEDED to score, the Bison got the one stop of the half they needed and Mellott threw another grenade on that drive. Lance gonna get paid and Polacek's stay in Fargo will be a short one. Quote

Currently SDSU is the only other FCS contender to the throne, and their team and staff just got gutted. In the next 10 years I'd be surprised if anyone outside of the Dakotas or Montana wins it. One advantage the rest of us Dakotas have is we get to play NDSU each year, as the 360 guys have mentioned a few times. I think if MSU had played NDSU annually for the past 4 years they would have had a better chance to win tonight and would have started out stronger in today's game as they would be more familiar with them. You can watch all the game film you want but until you go up against it you really don't know. We may not be deep playoff contenders right away next year(although I tbink we have a cjsnce to surprise) but we can do our part by upsetting them in Grand Forks next year to try and help get NDSU pushed out of the top two seeds. I would love if someone outside of the Dakotas and Montana stepped up their game. It was better and felt less watered down when JMU etc. were FCS. Although even then it typically seemed like it was really ever only a two or three horse race. We need to be one or those horses going forward. MSU lost to NDSU last year in the playoffs and the title game a few years ago. That's 3/5...... Quote

They've managed to hold enough back to keep things going. Nowhere near what Rodgers did to SDSU this year. Bohl tried on the coaching staff front, but couldn't get Klieman. And the portal wasn't a thing back then. Klieman took a little and still does, but left quite a bit behind. Entz went off by himself and didn't comeback a year later when he got a new HC job. Quote

That flicker of hope was quickly snuffed out the following weekend by an abysmal performance by UND. Meanwhile, NDSU’s worst team in 20 years was within a whisker of yet another appearance in Frisco. Losing Miller will be huge for them. Cole Peyton can't throw the ball so their passing game will be limited. Quote

NDSU will run away with it next year. There will be a battle though for who they get to beat in Nashville since SDSU will be down. Quote

fightingsioux4life Posted Tuesday at 05:47 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:47 PM Now that the "My, Oh, My" show is back on in Imperial Cass County, it is even more important for Schmidt to turn it around as quickly as possible. He must hit the spring portal hard and take advantage of the one-time harvest of FBS players who will be cut because of the 105 player roster limit the NCAA has put in place. Winning right away would make it easier to recruit high school seniors into the program. With our shiny new facilities, Schmidt will have tools that Bubba didn't have for most of his tenure. Quote

homer Posted Tuesday at 05:52 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:52 PM I’m sure one of the NDSU regulars can/will correct me but I believe I heard NDSU started the year with north of 25 seniors on the roster and 20+ on their two deep. Belief in coming back to win a championship and NIL was key to that. Guessing SDSUs roster looked similar. UND mean while had 3 OL starters and an all conference DL and QB leave and go be contributors elsewhere. 1 Quote

That's just it. What FCS teams are legit D1 teams? NDSU, SDSU, the Montanas, then.....I can't include UND when we would've lost to Ferris State. What is a legit D1 team? If Ferris or Valdosta turned "D1" and played the Valpos and Drakes and U of San Diego they'd go undefeated with their D2 rosters. I'd put them up against anyone NDSU played in the playoffs until the last two rounds and they'd beat them. But help is on the way FCS!!! The: East Texas A&M Lions, Lindenwood, Mercyhurst, Stonewall, and last but not least Western Georgia will have full FCS membership soon. So things are definitely looking up.... 1 Quote
