Popular Post Siouxperman8 Posted November 12 Popular Post Posted November 12 I know it's going against the grain here but my hope is that we win the last 2 games, make the playoffs and win a couple of games there too. I am not counting on that happening but I don't ever see myself hoping we lose game. 6 Quote

Once that happens, the coaching regime is living on borrowed time. 1 Quote
UND Football Fan Posted November 12 Posted November 12 The cliche is complementary football. We do not have that. Offensively we cannot score 50 points a game. Against middle not lower tier we move the ball well, against SDSU, NDSU possibly USD it will be a struggle (as shown in the NDSU and SDSU game and USD/SDSU game teams had defenses that slowed each others offenses and were dog fights) Defense we have is probably lower mid tier or upper lower tier. I may be crazy but special teams were pretty good last year, this year probably more average to below average. One could argue difference between 7-5 to 5-7. Also our last two playoff losses we get down by two scores early and it’s a battle to get to a tie which we still lose by a TD. I am disappointed with ALL defensive coaches (Head coach is defensive as well) How the last three years went, (road losses should have brought concern sooner) there is no reason for major changes. I do want the players and team play with effort and play for each other these last two games. Quote
ND-fan Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Season is over far as I am concerned. We are in no playoff hunt and way the team is right now we’re not capable of winning. Defense loss of front line people and playing hurt with number players on defense now puts our average defense in bottom of third of FCS football. I thought we should have brought in more transfers last spring but now thinking about our situation that may not have been possible. To bring in transfer you need to make commitment of playing time and financial commitment as well. What do you with players here that maybe equal or better than what you’re bringing. This brings you to team chemistry and if you loose your top existing talent you might be worse shape than before. The problem then lies in recruitment process of getting build up more high quality players in the pipeline. This has been problem here at Und to get enough top talent recruited here but I think this has been the problem whether we like it or not a lot of time we have been third choice behind NDSU and SDSU for number of reasons but bottom line it has been success of the other programs being there first in all phases of being division I program .So then I looked at other sister school of USD and they have gone to recruiting players more from areas that produce more football players but here this also comes with baggage too. The first they are winning but look the fan support has not been to where they fill the house it may be Turing around but Dakota fans like to see local kids performing and they come to the games because of that. Und has worked hard improving facilities which will show up in better recruits but this is not going to happen immediately. The question then lies do we have personnel to recruit long term to get there and for lot number of people on here would say no ,but then if we start to look for replacement what qualities does Und want with in change in program. This is what I think about because it comes down they would want majority of what Bubba is doing working with longterm alumni to get support to build new facilities, find majority of players from the state and regionally where fans support the team by attendance, recruits are good academically and become involved in community, and look to be long term coach here not here for couple years leave the program in mess after they move on to their next opportunity. This is a where we are at number of people just want to win now here on site but I think and administration is some where between now. This was failure of administration with last extension not to put in transition plan if expectation were not being met and have plan of transition to keep what has been built here not go back to where were under Mussman or Murphy in Und history of football. The remainder of this season should be spent on retaining our football players and staff getting out on recruiting trail hard to find players that can make immediate impact on the program. Sad year we went from having chance in the playoffs to this. The problem we started with team that had stay intact that worked until second half of the season NDSU game alone how much talent was lost up front. Quote

Why, because results still matter more than facilities. The intangibles of coaching are not allowing UND to get the most out of their current student-athletes; hence, no playoff wins, minimal road wins, and a complete inability to consistently compete with NDSU and SDSU. With all that said, what you’ve identified is correct. Administration is beyond content with the building progress and fundraising efforts of Bubba Schweigert, the academic success of the football student-athletes, and the local angle. There is absolutely no desire by UND to be the best, and in my opinion, given football is ultimately a results-driven team game of competition, this is a crucial mistake and error. 1 2 Quote

UNDTIM20 Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Who do we lose to the transfer portal after this year is over? Any young players or upcoming 5th year seniors that want to get away from Bubba for there last year? Just curious….. Quote

There were actually 2 different players holding. Wouldn't have changed end result of the game as mentioned, but a proper call there may have prevented them from getting 7 on that drive. In hindsight Bubba should have blown up even more than he did and got a personal foul, maybe woulda fired up the team. 1 Quote

Oxbow6 Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I get the defense is soft and gives up too many yards/points but Bo currently has 46% of the total receiving yards. Pushed all the chips into middle out of fall camp. Next season should be real fun to watch on both sides of ball. 1 Quote

From May 13th to Today: At least we didn't lose any of my Win or shoot yourself in the head games!! Lost the Indiana State Tossup game. Lost all games with no past indicators of a Victory. W vrs UNI and Griz at home. (In hindsight who would have guessed UNI to be 2-9 and still on the Playoff Bubble) Lost to YSU on the road.........received some pushback on this prediction. We are going to be 5-7, that sucks. 2 Quote

zonadub Posted November 18 Posted November 18 2 hours ago, HoopsFan03 said: If Bubba is the head coach: 1,000% There won’t be any QB’s left on the team besides Romfo after the portal opens Depends… Arch Manning is (like Kaminski) a RS Freshman, and was one of the top 2 high school recruits in the nation. He is still waiting behind Ewers (also a junior like Romfo) at Texas. Why would Kaminski not be willing to be a 2 year starter as a Junior and Senior? On top of that, Manning has gotten playing time and had on-field success for the Longhorns, so you would think he would be less settled as a backup, but sounds like he will stay at Texas. I get why Feeney left, same class as Romfo and we have seen how little playing time the backup QB at UND gets. Quote
homer Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I would think after this year Kamanski has as good of an opportunity to start at QB here as he would anywhere else. What we have right now is not the answer. Quote
UND Football Fan Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Last game of the year, use both QB’s. Meaningful reps against a quality team on the road. (Every series or two, not what Landry did in Dallas!) 1 Quote
