UND1983 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 The hardest part for fans is that we know what's going on but have to live with it for the next year, while giving money and time cause we love the program. Oh well, brighter days ahead! 4 Quote

Siouxperfan7 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Wat does Bubba need to do to get extended and keep is job? Where is the bar he must reach? - Beat the Jacks or Bison - Winning season - Make the playoffs - Win a playoff game - Reach the Quarterfinals - Reach the Semifinals - Make it to Frisco - Win a National Championship Quote

What he has done over the last 10 years, an average coach could do at an FCS program like UND. 2 Quote

That’s still important here, so think about that when the posts are regurgitated. On that note, a career-concluding, decade-plus head coach is not what UND football needs right now. But you can't keep doing the same thing and expect different results and that's what keeps happening. 2 Quote

New strength coach, new QB. I believe those were Bubba decisions. Not defending, UND needs a top 10 year, playoff win, no getting our _ss kicked on the road or in playoffs. 5 Quote

Mama Sue Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Isn’t there some requirement for full disclosure for a public position? I think in MN they may have to disclose only who gets interviewed but not sure. 1 Quote
gfhockey Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I think I would be very shocked to hear we go internal as Bubba said when the new broke down, he was leaving his phone was blowing off the hook with people, Wained to work here either he was bullshitting or telling the truth those if he goes internal the word on the street is we’re throwing in the towel Quote

They claimed it hurt recruiting, they wanted to reassure the kids that the coach would be around longer. No way does Bubba get to work to the end of his contract in 2025. He's either going to be fired or get extended just because of recruits. USD, not SDSU, led the effort to get approval for multi-year contracts when the Coyotes wanted a longer commitment to offer to Bob Nielsen, current USD football coach. Personally, I think it was a good move and benefitted the schools and their coaches. Quote

Popular Post wheelsup Posted January 15 Popular Post Posted January 15 If you really think Danny will be a good head coach at UND in the future the best thing for him and UND is that he left to go learn in a good program outside of Bubba. If he had stuck around and Bubba retired one of two things would have happened. whomever the AD is would have promoted Danny and everyone would have continued to complain about how inbred UND football is. The AD would have conducted a wider search and Danny would have gotten passed over. While maybe not the best thing for 2024 UND football.. in my opinion clearly the best thing for Danny and potentially UND football long term. Im still annoyed as I was really looking forward to seeing if the offensive problem in 2023 was Danny or Tommy (by the way.. defense was still 98% of the problem with 2023). 9 Quote

Same players. Not downplaying his success because it speaks for itself but I'd be curious where his offenses at SIU actually ranked. I think they were above average but they won 5, 4, 6 and 7 games those 4 years. Beyond those few years, at the time his only other college experience was at the NAIA level where recruiting and requirements for players was completely different than D1 NCAA (and he obviously was very successful). It wasn't like it was a glaring mistake at the time. Very easy to look back and make the obvious comment that UND made a mistake. Happy for him as by all accounts he's a legitimately good guy. But looking back 10 years isn't going to move the program forward today. 6 1 Quote

Common sense would say 7 wins and 1st round exit. They need to hit the portal hard after Spring Ball. Obviously help on the defensive side of the ball. Interested to see who they bring in as Offensive Coordinator. I'm think we will see an upgrade at QB. I'm guessing the Writing was on the Wall or Schuster would have stuck around 1 more year. Quote
