ND-fan
The season been over for long time since we lost to St. Thomas in January since then we have lost to all the teams above us and margins of loss have grown in each of the second meetings. Mallory needs to look where we are at this roster is a mess we don't have enough of the players that can challenge to compete in the Summit. Looks like we will see some transfers right away after the game i didn't see Cottingham on the bench.

Definitely deserved better. One of the best to wear a UND jersey.
ND-fan
yes Kacie has had great career at UND. Also I want to give thank you for Sammiyah Hoskins for her play at North Dakota and coming back for 5 year also.
CMSioux
Wow - seeing the new assistant coach they hired one wonders what the quality of candidates were? Willing to give her a chance but ...so many questions. https://fightinghawks.com/news/2024/5/22/womens-basketball-north-dakota-adds-gayner-as-womens-basketball-assistant-coach.aspx
DL Sioux
At least we have an attorney on staff! Are still needing one more assistant?

Would imagine they are still looking for another assistant
The Sicatoka
This hire would be confusing if Hutter was not on staff. Given he is, I file it under I trust the Hutter hire and there's no concern until there's a performance concern.

Did they tell Mallory she's a lame duck and hire Hutter to be the "Coach in Waiting"?? Not saying I'm opposed to that...but without that kind of explanation a D1 program hiring an assistant from Mayville State seems kind of "odd"... The Sicatoka
Mal hired Hutter. Hutter surely would have insight on assistants. See also: Bubba hired OC; OC surely would have insight on OL hire. If you make the first hire and don't trust their insights on following hires, why'd you hire them?

Sure if we're talking about hiring someone from another D1 or even D2 program...but Mayville?!? I get that they were good at the NAIA level...but talk about making your program look small time. That said I'm not sure Mal's track record of hiring assistants is that pristine...maybe that's a problem within the program...
The Sicatoka
Less than six months ago, for your consideration: https://fightinghawks.com/sports/womens-basketball/stats/2023-24/mayville-state/boxscore/13279 Performance > Labels

The Sicatoka
True, but the winning coach was and she'd worked for him. Either you trust the Hutter hire and what follows (like his former staff being hired by Mal) or you don't. If this was an NAIA hire from Wazzamatta U in East Mooseguts, Idaho, I'd wonder. They have pretty good 'book' on this hire. https://fightinghawks.com/news/2024/5/22/womens-basketball-north-dakota-adds-gayner-as-womens-basketball-assistant-coach.aspx She seems to be from Dassel/Cokato area in Minnesota. That's good because the rivals have been doing it with locals; why not UND.
