The distractions and arguments are largely a byproduct of what UND athletic leadership and football has done to itself. We all want to see UND football win, but yet, here we are. Subtract all FBS schools from D1 hockey membership and what are you left with? I’d guess not anywhere near the 100+ FCS currently has. Its 128 vs 50 in case you were wondering. College hockey has fallen in popularity in the region with the loss of the Sioux logo, rise of the Bison football, fall of Sioux football and the poor Sioux hockey teams. I think the staff has the right idea in mind, as far as what they need to recruit, but they just can’t actuate it. The debate is whether it’s due to a deficiency of resources or intrinsic inability.
