Announcers saying that Harvard coach maintained that his player did not cover the puck in the paint, but swiped it out with his hand and therefore it was a legal play. Anybody know the rule?  I agree that he swiped it out and didn’t seem to cover it.

Yes he swiped it. But covered it to do the swipe. "interpretation " needed- could be called either way. I think it was covered to do a swipe so illegal play.

I just remember why I don’t like Mike Mayotte. I think he always goes against North Dakota. What a stool pigeon.

We shall see how long this one lasts. Doesn't bode well for this evening though if YouTube keeps detecting and blocking.

I would have to look up the NCHC rule, but I am sure it is nearly the same as HS/USA rules. Where if the hand covers or goes over top of the puck, even if to swipe out, it is a penalty shot if in the crease. More often to see guys do it to shove under their goalie, but it doesn't matter if it is a split second it is supposed to be a PS.

That thought did cross my mind as well! Kept telling myself I could just change the title to make it more accurate post-stream. I’ll do that for that UND game this evening.
