Youngstown State @ UND 11/06/21

Was at the game.  One of very few in the stands.  I had chalked it up as a loss.  We weren’t very good to start on D and same on O for 3 quarters. 
one thing Tommy is really good at is finding someone In end zone when play breaks down. Happened on one TD I think and 2 point conversion

Until you remember NDSU is still going to make the playoffs and UND is not……. NDSU is lucky to only have one loss

Over time there us nothing lucky about results in football.  A play or two?  Of course, a win or a loss?  Maybe.  Anything more.  Nope.

Why are our coaches so undisciplined 

2nd play of the game And we needed to take a timeout, get the damn play in and go

sideline interference, which coach is supposed to take care of that , 15 yard penalty

First game of the season that I did not watch or listen to - was enjoying a beautiful (and successful) deer hunt.  Glad we won, but also glad I didn’t have to go through a wild range of emotions, like most other weeks!

So are the Vikings just historically just crappier than the Packers or are they just less lucky???? Honestly I need a Vikings fan to explain this too me.

I have found that rooting against the Bison bites me in the a”&&@$ more often than never…… I’m waiting to toast their defeat in the playoffs. Might have to actually root for them so that they lose.

No question about that comparison, maybe Tom Brady is just a really lucky QB too.

I take credit for this one. I left the game to head to Playmakers after the 3rd Q.

Had I gone down at halftime, UND may have won by 20.

Couple postgame musings:

- Odd how our defense lets teams go right down the field to begin games.  Generally seems we're good after that, except this game where it was the first two drives.

- Tommy looked good once we sped it up down 21-10.  Wish we would do that a bit more.

- 3rd & 10 conversion with about 9 minutes left from around our own 25 was a game changer.  Down 21-10, we don't convert that the game is probably over.

- Like everyone else, I wish we could hit a deep ball.  Seems like the couple of times we do throw the ball deep a game, the receivers have no separation.  Tommy is no all-star but not much he can do about that.  

- I also wish we would stop with the bubble screens.  Seems our average gain on them is 1-2 yards.

The defense stepping up the last couple of drives was huge.  I don’t know that I have seen Bubba with that much fire in his belly. He was over talking with the defense and slapping players on the the behind and really getting them going.  Need more of this even when things aren’t going good.

the standings in the mvfc  are really a cluster of same records, 

Belquist has saved our bacon many times

This was another game where the defense doesn't show up 'til the second quarter(USD & SIU also) & other than the last 2 drives the offense was terrible most of the game(NDSU, USD, SIU) & another questionable call on a key 4th down(Tommy with a Q draw?).  Not sure what to make of this team, seems overall like it is vastly underperforming.  I guess that's why it is 4-5.

I was surprised at the fire that Youngstown had on their sidelines.  The players and especially the coaches were jumping around with the result of most every play. 

It was kind of PJ Fleck-esque

Did I miss us getting a warning? Because why did we get penalized 15 yards when later youngstown got a flag and a warning for sideline? Did we bump into the official?
