I have a huge beef with him tweeting about azithromycin and hydroxychloroquine used together as if it's a cure all.  Saying if "Taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine."  Holy.  It's a study with six people in the treatment arm.  SIX.  That's reckless.  Leave the medicine to the professionals.

Congratulations when we can't even treat basic community acquired pneumonia with anything less than zosyn cause the resistance to azithromycin is about to skyrocket.  And from what I've heard from most of my friends who work in retail is that the massive hoards of scripts they are filling for azith and hydroxychloroquine are predominantly for providers and their families.

How long until we see the first robbery for this instead of opioids cause people think the "cure" is being withheld from them?

Just watch, in a few weeks half of the southern states will be poisoned and the other half is badly addicted.  :p

Both of those individuals were highly qualified for the positions they held. Not even really a relevant comparison, but my expectations for any kind of standard wrt to discussion are pretty low these days. I will acknowledge that the right-wingers didn't like Holder or Rice very much, but they were absolutely qualified to be appointed to those positions.

I knew you’d go the route of “hey, they were qualified,” over what your other comment stated - “yes men.”  Or women as was the case with Susan Rice.

Man, the crowd outside the Xcel is wild.   Gonna be a great championship game tonight.  Let's drop the puck.   North Dakota - Minnesota.   Duluth.   The new great rivalry.

I was told that UMD was banned from the tournament after it had been determined that a shipment of NDSU-football-supplied “Mountain Dew” had somehow found its way to the Duluth locker room...

I’d guess that most Cabinet appointees have been inclined to more or less agree with the President that appointed them. It is, however, unusual for that alignment in beliefs to be the primary qualification for the position.
These are unusual and kinda scary times. I’m starting to get more worried about the second wave of the virus and events surrounding the election than I am about containment of the first wave. People in NYC, Boston, parts of California, and other hotspots may not agree.

Good to know about the outpatient CAP guidelines changing.  Obviously, I don't see that side.  We usually hit them with the azith/ceftriaxone wombo-combo.

We submitted the forms to Gilead to use remdesivir for compassionate use.  The patient requirements are a bit different for compassionate use vs the active trial.

Let us know what you learn. Good luck.

In addition to the previously noted H1N1 sources, here's a sample of Fox News' coverage of Ebola compared to Covid-19.  Fox is by far the most watched news outlet in the country.  It sits directly on top of the steaming pile that is American MSM.

Is Trump treated fairly?  Not at all.  But, again, it comes with the territory.

I like the one where “positive coverage of Obama slips to 43%”.  Trump has been at about 7%.  Which of course includes all the lies and hoaxes made up about him and the administration.

I noticed none of those articles about the swine flu mentioned the world was going to end because Obama totally focked it up before it even started.

The blame for the overreaction and panic we are dealing with today sits squarely on the shoulders of the main stream media.    Perhaps that’s why Trump went off on Peter Alexander when Peter started with  his question.

I don’t agree with trump doing that, but with all the lies from the media he has to constantly deal with, I can understand why he has no time for them,  and why he doesn’t really care what he says to them because he knows they will convolute and twist his statements anyway.

Um...I think the President of the United States has access to some of the top professionals and experts in the industry keeping him updated about other case studies than what's just repeated on the internet.

Um... Then they should be the ones reporting. As of noon today,  we have zero results from studies about the use of hydroxychloroquineazithromycin. The reports are anecdotal. Same report from 3 presenters at The Mayo Clinic Clinical Reviews 2020 completed at noon today. We have multiple studies going right now studying the antiviral agent Remdesivir but studies aren’t complete yet. The President isn’t responsible for our problems. When we do an after action review, there will be a long list for people to criticize. The President’s mistake has been to speak on medical issues that he has no knowledge about and must rely on what he is told by others. If I were advising him I would tell him to allow his medical advisors to brief the nation on the medical details including potential helpful medications or vaccines. He can talk about gearing up the nation to produce more of the required medical supplies. Business is his area of expertise.

That announcement comes tomorrow.   After a 4-2  pounding tonight.   Dogz down.  And then banned.   That slips the Gophers, standing at #18 in the PW,  into the field of sixty-four.  The barking all about town starts.   The fever goes viral.

Of course everything right now is going to anecdotal. Doesnt mean its wrong. Dont have time to do long peer reviewed studies right now.

All trump said was there are drugs out there that has a chance to be game changers against coronavirus.

Turns out he is right.

At least they are out there telling the 60% that didn't get the flu shot....."It's not too late. It could save your life".

Or was that from the PSA from LeBron James?

I didn’t say he was right or wrong. I’m not a fan of the media. I have to deal with facts. The hydroxychloroquine combo looks promising. We will learn more day by day.

Trump is out there spreading more anecdotal evidence.

I’m not an anti-Trump guy. I have reviewed these reports and they were discussed yesterday and today via the Mayo webcast by hundreds of physicians from around the country. When able most of us will be willing to use these meds in combination but if we are wrong, we could cause harm and the anti-Trump lawyer guy would probably want to file class action lawsuit.

Yep, we'll likely use them too, after an EKG and on a case by case basis.  The head of our system apparently talked to Teva today, so hopefully that means some drugs are on the way!

My God and people joked about Bloomberg being short.

Fauci can barely see over the podium.

CNN reports that Russia is handling the coronavirus well...

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/03/21/europe/putin-coronavirus-russia-intl/index.html

...and we’ve officially jumped the shark.

Putin shut down the 2,600 mile border with China on January 30th.  Not long afterward, Trump wants to ban flights to the US from China.  Coincidence?  Get Stetler and Acosta on it!

THIS is CNN.
