Almost every president/senate similarly situated has done this lol. You can try to claim its a new thing but that makes you wrong and/or a liar.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell boasted about blocking former president Barack Obama's judicial appointments, a two-year effort that allowed Donald Trump and a Republican-controlled congress to stack courts with conservative judges and create a conservative majority on the nation's high court. The President nominates judges. The Senate determines if the judges will be confirmed. Thats how it has worked historically and is in the constitution. So the Senate has the right and authority to decline to confirm judges nominated by the President. Mitch McConnell did the same sort of thing that every other Senate majority leader would do. Its not surprising or odd that a Republican Senate will be hostile to Democratic judicial nominations or vice versa. After all, Democrats made it the "thing" to do when they opposed Bork and Clarence Thomas. Further, read up on Miguel Estrada and let me know if that changes how you view the situation. 1

What do you do (or don’t do) if you are the Governor of North Dakota? What would you do if you were President Trump? This is a sincere question. There’s no ‘solution’. Humans are now susceptible to 7 coronaviruses instead of 5. There was an interesting article from The Atlantic where epidemiologists looked at the genetic material of one of the seasonal coronaviruses known to infect humans. They dated some of the genetic mutations in that virus to the late 19th century. Coincidentally that corresponds to an epidemic in 1889 that had previously been attributed to influenza. Some epidemiologistS now attribute that epidemic to a ‘novel’ coronavirus.

NDSU grad Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 In addition to my previous post it’s estimated the pandemic of 1889-90 killed about 1 million people worldwide, slightly less than Covid deaths in the current pandemic. The global population in 1890 was 1.6 billion, compared to the 7.8 billion people who populate the globe today.
