Popular Post Cratter Posted December 9, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 9, 2024 So the three finalists were all current or former UND coaches?! Haha Stuff just writes itself. 5 Quote
HoopsFan03 Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 I wished it was Fruechte but will fully support Schmidt!! Time to get to work! 2 Quote

His other coaching roles were pretty minor then I guess. At that level, position coaches have key roles. They are involved in player decisions and developing schemes. 1 Quote

I think some of the other names that were interviewed may be some surprises…..but I heard early that those three were the top and ES was the likely pick but they needed to make sure. Also heard that the opening was very popular. 2 Quote

He would’ve been at Bama if he didn’t leave for SDSU. 1 Quote

Hawkster Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Probably a good hire but I'm reserving judgment until I see more staff and some proof on the field. IMO too much of the same old same old. Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Well I am encouraged. Lots has happened to UND football in a short time. I think there is more hope now that we can have a product that we can rally behind. Will always be proud to have graduated from UND! 2 Quote
UND08 Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 2019 - 28.50 points allowed per game 2018 - 23.50 points per game 2017 - 34.64 points per game Color me skeptical…but I have to admire our ability to “keep it all in the family!” 1 Quote

And there's quite a few of these 3rd and 4th tier coaches at schools like Washington. I just learning. Quote
Siouxperman8 Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 I like the Schmidt pick and he must have interviewed well. Tibesar has very long list of experience too and I'm guessing was strongly considered. Years ago I asked one of his relatives about the possibility of him coming back but at that time his career and salary were beyond what UND could offer. Since he left UND: Kansas State (2006) Special teams coordinator Kansas State (2007–2008) Defensive coordinator & defensive backs coach Montreal Alouettes (2009–2010) Linebackers coach Montreal Alouettes (2011) Defensive coordinator & linebackers coach Purdue (2012) Defensive coordinator & linebackers coach Chicago Bears (2013) Linebackers coach Northwestern (2014) Defensive consultant Wisconsin (2015–2016) Outside linebackers coach Wisconsin (2017) Defensive run game coordinator & outside linebackers coach Oregon State (2018–2021) Defensive coordinator & outside linebackers coach Akron (2022–present) Defensive coordinator & linebackers coach Quote
