Any und tie hire brings me the least amount of excitement.  Wish them the best but it comes across as another easy/lazy  hire for und.  I don’t see much change.  Same schemes, same culture…etc.  Add to it …bubba is still around.  Gobc still intact. His influence with an old coordinator remains solid.

Let’s look at Arizona State, albeit FBS;

A lot of talk about other coaches and teams, but to go from 3-9 last year to 11-2 and win the conference in your first season in the league (new Big 12), and secure a CFP spot is incredible. What the young Kenny Dillingham is doing is quite remarkable. Young, hungry and local pride (he’s from Phoenix metro) appears to not be a bad combo.

Also, as some on here might like it, this is a knock against Beau Baldwin - they fired him and the results they got this year have been remarkable. 
 

Also, proves quick turnarounds are possible in CFB. No reason to be overly complacent, or justify coaches who go on losing season after season.

The fix will be in and Bama will backdoor into the playoffs again. DeBoer will be on the national stage. The prospect of a new HC who worked under DeBoer holds water IMO. UND was Bubba's Notre Dame (his quote). There was never a ceiling the last decade plus.

ASU is a great story this year.  My dad winters down there so it's been fun to follow them.

Their NIL collective must be doing well too.  Their QB is getting $600k+ and ten players got Mustang Mach-E cars for their use while at ASU.  Colorado has a majority of the top earners in the Big 12.

I have some contact with a top hs basketball player being recruited nationally.  NIL money was definitely a big part of their recruiting and decision on where to go to college.

• Excitement from the fan base. I want to feel momentum.

• Win round 1 portal. Keep key players. O-Line, RBs, Young secondary players. Limited scope enter first 48 hrs. From there more be team fit than player decision.

• Big changes in staff

• DIFFERENCE in portal offers. Limited offers so far, very inline with past years. Should he no surprise, same staff.

• Recruit, recruit, recruit. New level of athlete.  Have there be a new feeling. New confidence around the program.

San Diego cost of living is 41% higher than national average.  

GF cost of living is 9% below the national average.

You smart people can do the math from here.
