Agreed. The status quo was around for so long that people are absolutely frightened by the change and adding in budget cuts on top of it adds to that. Fact is, the status quo needed to change and it is. Someone actually came in and made some hard decisions that have been kicked down the road for too long. Some of them were forced (budget cuts), some of them were unpopular and it is possible that some of them might end up not being the right thing, but something needed to be done to get UND back on track. At least there is now a public vision to what the school is striving for and the leadership is embracing it.

I'm honestly not trying to be rude here, I genuinely want to know your opinion... what is the school striving for and what do you think the vision is?

What I don't get is how DeLorenzo gets to stay on at UND...He was part of the Kelly growth program which caused UND to crazy on building replacement (utilization rate is so low they are now destroying buildings) and expanding our athletics programs to 21 sports (U of Wisconsin Madison had less programs at the time!).  Add on the fact that an across campus survey showed him with the lowest scores in trust and integrity...so what gives?

So she worked 20% of a 40 hour week and complained about the schools expectations of timeliness in her work?  Of course they asked her if she really wanted to be there.

It's not my opinion, they literally have a strategic plan with a vision.

It definitely isn't something they were hiding, they've been quite open and vocal about it.

This is great! Thanks for that as I did not see any of these blogs. I will definitely read into this.

That's what I was wondering.

UND Today is a cool publication to subscribe too. Yes, it's a PR publication that is mostly positive about what is going on at UND.  But all that said, the information is true and accurate -- and it usually has stuff before it hits the Herald. In fact, many of the more positive Herald articles about UND originated in UND Today.

I see minot state got a big donation today. What could have been with him being the pres

What do you think would be different with him as president?

Let's take a quick look at how that donation came about....

Quote

Rick Hedberg of the Minot State University Development Foundation announced that the late Janis Dislevy, who is an MSU alum, gifted $4.6 million to the foundation.

With the latest gift from Dislevy, she will have gifted the university with a grand total of $5.3 million over the past 15 years. She established the Janis Ann Dislevy Trust Endowed Scholarship in 2003 and the Janis Ann Dislevy Endowed Chair in 2007.

So a Minot State alumna and donor in life donates to Minot State post-mortem.

So is that blame Kennedy or credit Shirley? So hard to keep up ...

Kennedy pretty much ran out of goodwill when it came out that he's already looking for a new job at a "better" university. I could see people being a little more forgiving if he had been on the job for a longer period of time, but given that its been less than 5 years it just looks bad for him.

Why did you put quotes around "better?"

UCF Average ACT: 28.
UND Average ACT: 23

UCF President Salary: $506K.
UND President Salary: $365K

The president of UCF has better performing students, a higher profile school, gets to live in warm weather which older folks love, etc.

Tough to blame a guy for expressing an interest in that.
