i was yelling let them score...and i got a few quizzical looks

Prior to that...on their previous TD.....when they shifted at the line of scrimmage and sent three guys wide out to the left and we only had two guys out there covering I was standing up yelling to take a freaking time out!!!  It was obvious the ball was going over there, especially when we only had two damn guys in that entire area....ridiculous.

I noticed that too. Prior to the shift it looked like confusion on the defense. Then they shifted and really caught UND off guard and out manned in that area.

Punt team had a direct hand in 2/3's of our losses this season.  I believe after that SB game when we got the punt blocked and people were pissed, somebody commented it wouldn't happen again.  Uh well it did.  Let's not forget that we gave up a punt return for a TD as well last night but there was a penalty.  I went to the bathroom during the punt and missed it  so I'm not sure if it was a good flag, or if we lucked out and got saved by that penalty.

Will Ratelle. Eric Schmidt.

No dominate linebacker this year.

Cole Reyes. Cole Reyes is what we heard all season.

Isn't the linebackers almost like the QB of a defense?

Taj was missed.

Richmond was one yard short on the third down before the punt penalty...if Richmond gained one more yard on that play and got the first down...did that one yard give Richmond the win? And enough momentum?

The kicking penalty was 5 yards and Richmond had to go 77 yards to score. Even after that score UND still had a ten point lead. The inability of UND to regain momentum on offense or defense after that by not staying sharp cost and essentially coasting helped cost them the game.

This is an accurate analysis.  Good teams overcome those brain farts.  Whats really got me pissed is we are that good team but we don't deliver today when it really counts.  We could have won the conference alone next week.  What's the point of becoming a dominant team in a power conference if your going to lay an egg against an eastern team of mostly backups.  I can't figure this one out

Everyone is our section was saying the same thing. In 2016 it's pretty common knowledge nowadays that is the smarter play.

Unless it was you in lower 215 ;).

actually i was in section 215...did i stand out or just a guess?

At home where it is usually pretty easy to regain momentum after those 5 yard brain fart penalties.

Lower section? The best section in the Alerus outside the students.

Just a guess. Your not in the lower part of 215 (few rows..5 or so...from the field) and part of the sections cheer leaders with Brad are you?

It didn't help any.

The blocked punt was also a killer.

Special Teams hurt.

That missed field goal would've been nice to have, also.

When a team is on the ropes facing a knockout.. The mentality is, all we need is one break or bounce or call to go our way. In most playoff games, if you have a kick blocked, you will lose. In contrast, if you score on a special teams play, you will usually win.

When it's fourth and 4 on the opposing 35 yard line. I'd like to see UND go for it. Instead of punting it. Could have been a huge momentum shift.

Did UND go for it on fourth down once?

10 drops yesterday. 10. Some contested but all very catchable. 10. That's your ball game.

Missed field goal. That's your ball game.

zero defensive turnovers. That's your ball game.

we just couldn't catch a break once they go the momentum. This would have hurt more if we were expected to win it all.

totally agree ...telling my brother that on that third down play...run it knowing that if you don't lose yards you go for it on 4th...totally agreed that is should have been a possibility to go for it...

C'mon...kid played hard and made a mistake. This program does not punish him for that.

We are not losing the game IF we have a few catches and/or better passes in the 4th to sustain drives. It was execution not play calls and I agree that some were weird.

Based on where this team was when Bubba got here you can count this season as a success overall. That being said, I think they dropped the ball a little bit being the first D1 playoff at home. A win would have helped to generate even more buzz in the community about football. We have good guys in place and a lot of guys coming back so we should be fine moving forward and I'm already excited about next year.

Part of my tirade today was reading that last night.

Isn't BJ the head of the hoops program. Maybe he should be suspended for a game for that Tweet.

Three problem plays:

Defense: the blown coverage for the long 1st quarter TD pass
Offense: calling a reverse that goes for -8 in UR territory (the dive was working; stay with it)
Special Teams: Not calling "safe" or "make him punt it" or whatever -- just force the kick; don't touch the punter

Everything happens for a reason. This team was supposed to learn something from this game that will be invaluable to them in the future.

They're close, they're a couple players, a couple plays, a couple experiences away, but they're top 16 close, not top four close and that's what it takes to win championships.

Although it looks official, and has a decent amount of followers for it, I don't believe it is.

The one thing that really stood out to me in the 2nd half on defense was the way that the outside rushers were continuously pushed upfield, leaving big holes between the Tackles/Guards.  Richmond either took advantage by rushing to those holes or giving the QB clean sightlines.  I feel like there wasn't enough emphasis on keeping the lanes clogged, but instead the edge rushers were trying to go outside to get to the QB every time.
