Wilbur Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 I hate to be on the one play decides a game wagon, but it likely did. Play a safe punt return and Richmond quits down three scores and on defense on their side of the fifty in the fourth. This group gave us all a ride, fun while it happened, but don't think offensively they had enough to win it all. Feel bad for the seniors, not the way to end it. Im a Viking fan so I'm used to this happening.... Quote

Just need to mature as a team and be better for 4 quarters. Too many mistakes and big plays given up to win in 2nd half. Most of the time I agree with the "firing coaches isn't the answer" but Rudolph has been getting by for awhile and bailed out time and time again. Much of the defensive struggles are put on the offense unable to sustain drives. That was evident this game in the second half. After that first drive in the 3rd, the offense did nothing. The problem is, that wasn't just something from this game. That is a trend. Quote

Sioux94 Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Fire special teams coordinator more than Rudolph. Honestly speaking I think I may be able to do a better job than the sh*t show I've seen with our punt team this year. And the decision t keep Seibel returning punts when you have Reed as an option.....seriousy?? Quote
Hawkster Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Just got home from the bar. This is the worst screw up team I have ever seen. I need more booze in me but figured my luck I'd get a DUI. All I can say is I don't even want to hear anything about this pathetic team. I hope I feel different next year, but whatever. Quote

petey23 Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 I think Paul Ralston can probably sum up best what happened out there today. Quote
Tangolou Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Did Richmond ever hold Oliveria to less than 4yards? I just don't understand what I just watched. Game tied, Oliveria 5 yards on first down, take him out, go empty on 2nd down roll left with a right handed QB, incomplete. Don't get it. 1 Quote
darell1976 Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 I credit Richmond for hitting our weakness which is special teams and the long ball. I was waiting for a pick 6 late in the game but their receivers were so open it was horrible to watch. Special teams is bad, Seibel is not good as a punt returner. He fumbled once luckily recovered and bobbled a couple more times. We need better punt blocking it looked like a flashback to Stony Brook on that block. Now as for Bubba....great job getting this team a share of the conference title, a playoff berth, and generally getting fans to talk about football again. I can't wait to see this team in action next season and get another berth into the playoffs. Congrats Bubba and the Fighting Hawks!! 2 Quote
Kab Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Why are we even going after that punt would have had good field position anyway rudolph won't get any better we can do better than that this one is on the coaches 1 Quote

It makes much more sense when you realize that Rudolf has been living in Bizarro World this season where everything is opposite. Opponents have 9 in the box - time to pound the rock continuously - the 2nd and 9, 3rd and 7 situations put us right where we want to be. We're getting 5 yards a crack on the ground and need to chew some clock - time to rest Olivera and chuck the pigskin. This may be the most frustrated I have ever been after a Sioux football game (and with the Sioux Falls game that is saying something). Time for Bubba to be a real leader and fix some constant problems like special teams and offensive schemes. 2 Quote

I get what you are saying, and yeah, there are multiple areas we could have won that game. making the first FG. Not blowing that turnover. etc. Situationally, not running Oliveira late and passing at the end was a coaching issue, not an execution issue and it did cost us. I'm a Bubba fan (big time) but he has to know what rudolph is doing? and get the final say? right? I guess I just don't understand what they where trying to do late. it didn't make sense. Quote
Popular Post Tangolou Posted December 4, 2016 Popular Post Posted December 4, 2016 Overall this is young team who got valuable experience today. These are very good coaches who got valuable experience today. I have complete confidence in these guys to get better. It just hurts when its at home, you have hyped it big time, and it goes down that way. Just a gut punch. 7 Quote
Cratter Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Tough loss, but a pretty successful season and lots to build on for next year. Congrats to Richmond. 3 Quote
Wilbur Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Anybody think Karen Deboer could be lured to Grand Forks to coach the offense? Is Eastern Michigan FBS DI? Quote

Feff Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Torrey Hunt, 3rd and long towards the end of the game, bat the damn ball away on the deep throw, don't go for the toss-up int when you haven't shown the ability all season to win those battles. Had he just punched the ball away instead of going for that pick, UND likely gets the ball back on a punt. 1 Quote

Absolutely the worst decision in many years. Catch the punt at midfield and grind the clock and they can't beat us. Instead running into kicker and they go down and score and off and running from there Quote
