F'n Hawks Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 We had an opportunity to finish in regulation again... The play out of the timeout at the end of regulation baffled me, you should never get a shot clock violation out of a timeout. 1 Quote
BigGame Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 In the loss to Weber State Hooker was clearly the only player doing much for UND and I was upset with the fact that the other guys couldn't even hit any free throws down the stretch. Tonight a lot of guys stepped up and played well which makes me think the future is bright for UND basketball. 2 Quote
Kab Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Make free throws in regulation and you won't be in overtime also some crazy unforced turnovers our inbounds plays need work Quote

choyt3 Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Crandall just made a bold prediction. Leadership statement from a freshman. This off season is pretty important. Quote

homer Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 On the way back to Fargo. Fun game to watch and good crowd. Again, props to the administration to put the money in to showcase this young, talented team one more time at home. A few thoughts: The team got better from this game. That was a good team we got the opportunity to play. Crandall is freakishly athletic. Some of the plays he made tonight were ridiculous to watch. Best game from Shanks this year. His role may be coming off the bench. He just looked and played more relaxed against the 2nd best interior team he saw this year. McBuckets 2.0 basketball IQ is high. IMO, Seales will be our most improved player next year. With a little muscle and a little more work on his midrange jumper he will be a tough matchup at the 3. Glad we have Hooker another year. Not his best game tonight but he is the player we can market this program around this offseason and build excitement around. Shoot a decent percentage from the line in regulation, we win the game. 2 Quote

I must have misread - however, back to the point. How many times have we seen this from Jones. It would be laughable if it wasn't so sad. 1 Quote
Popular Post jdub27 Posted March 17, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 17, 2016 Can't argue with the play calling at the end of regulation or overtime. Jones was calling for them to get a shot off earlier in regulation, it was passed at least once or twice instead. Had an good look on two possessions in a row to end overtime and they didn't make the shots. McBuckets with one of them and Hooker with the other. Geno played a hell of game but one more free throw from him would have been huge. Seales had a chance too. Two freshman who will grow from it. Q just missed that shot at the end of regulation, the place was ready to explode. UC-Irvine was a fun team to watch. Had some serious athleticism and height. Avants taking the opening tip was hilarious being a full foot shorter. Props to Faison for stepping up and paying for the game. Same to the fans for showing up. Great crowd tonight. This team is going to make noise next year, they know what they need to do this off-season. Seeing the reactions, particularly from Q and Geno, after losing a game that didn't mean that much to most reinforces that thought. 6 Quote

Good notes. Yah, other than Q Hook and Crandall & McBuckets at times, everybody else's ft shooting is woeful--these guys each need to shoot 200 fts a day over the off-season. Man, Crandall can sky, incredible air. One real bad foul I recall tonight was at about the 40 second mark and believe we're up by 2 or 3 and Bernstein fouls an Anteater a bit above the 3 pt line when he starts to try to go around him, I just didn't get that (guy made 1 of 2 fts I think). nodakhoops Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Tough loss but fun game against a really good team. This team really grew this year. Next years team should be the best team on paper UND has had in some time. Pretty much bring back all production and add an all conference level player in Wheeler Baker. We'll have 7-8 guys who can drop 15 plus on any given night. Starters - Hooker, Crandall, Baldwin, Drick, Avants Bench - Baker, Seales, McDermott, Shanks, Cashman, Collins. Guessing the two freshman will redshirt although I've read real good things on the big from Washington. Big summer for recruiting too. With the core class of Crandall, Seales, Baker, McDermott, Avants, & Collins having 3 years left this team should be in the mix for BSC titles and NCAAs the next 3 years. Need to try and land 2 high impact guys to fill Q & Baldwins spots after next year. Quote
hoops44 Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 should have played shanks more late in the game...needed more rim protection.. Baker is expected to replace Q. Quote

I think your lineup is probably right beings that was what it was at the end of this year but I'd like to see Seales over Baldwin. Baldwin is a nice player but I'd like to see him off the bench. That is my only complaint of him. He really exceeded expectations as a true freshman. Quote

Good basketball IQ, with moves in the paint and the ability to pull up and hurt you that way, too. Color me impressed with young Avants. 2 Quote
Teeder11 Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Anyone at the game see the one-man Anteater cheering section on the southend portable bleachers? He got escorted off the floor once by two security guards and was allowed to return, and then he was removed completely just before the end of regulation. Besides being overzealous and obnoxious, what did he do to get removed? Quote
