Sodacker Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Talked to a former UND grad today, good friend, and I asked him who he was voting for this time around...He said, "i'm not going to play their game so screw'em"....whatever name eventually wins is definitely tainted by the fact that simply 'North Dakota' was left off the ballot. This whole process has divided us and that is sad... But he voted the first time? Quote
Blackheart Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 But he voted the first time? No, sorry I didn't make that clear. Quote
Siouxphan27 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 KVLY just mentioned people are trying to sell their votes on Craigslist.Wow. I wonder if the gobc will purchase them. Quote
petey23 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Why is it so important to have a "majority" election winner? Can anyone explain? So they can pronounce the new name as popular as over half the people were in favor of it while ignoring the fact that the new name will actually be endorsed by about 19-20% and to get that high they had to go through 2 or 3 eliminations. 1 Quote
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 KVLY just mentioned people are trying to sell their votes on Craigslist.Wow. I wonder if the gobc will purchase them. People are so stupid. Paying $100-200 for 1 vote out of 20,000+? Quote

obborg Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 This person, and any person, who does this should have his vote stripped. We knew elections were influenced by money but this is ridiculous. Talk about eliminating the middleman. Quote

The Sicatoka Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Here's one I found Question: How does this person have "three votes"?I have multiple UND degrees, season tickets, and I'm a donor. (I've said I should get four votes.) How can this person claim "three" unless they've taken two from others? Quote
dmksioux Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 (edited) Question: How does this person have "three votes"?I have multiple UND degrees, season tickets, and I'm a donor. (I've said I should get four votes.) How can this person claim "three" unless they've taken two from others? An alum, spouse and a child who may be a current UND student. Or a UND Alum whose parents are also alums. Not too difficult to come up with various scenarios...I had two, myself and my dads who didn't care to vote. Edited November 3, 2015 by dmksioux Quote
Blackheart Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 So you have people selling votes and others using the votes of disinterested friends/relatives...I'm real excited for the outcome of a flawed process that a majority of stakeholders refuse to take the time to choose one of 3 decidedly bad nicknames. Should be real representative of this entire clusterf***. 1 Quote

Should be real representative of this entire clusterf***.I guess I'm in the camp that Roughriders isn't a decidedly bad nickname. As I look at most people on here, it is the lesser of all the evils, but it seems like many of the Roughrider supporters are voting for something rather than against something. That speaks volumes. Lets face it, we were never going to get a consensus no matter which nickname we would pick, and the constant back and forth would be taking place with any names brought into the discussion. I do wish they would have left many of the names on the list they ruled out early so we could have debated some of the strengths and weaknesses of those, but I do think Roughriders has the potential once people get over their biases to other names. 10 Quote

obborg Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Haven't seen from your posts where you are in favor of anything, just against, so in your case yes. True I am more against than for, but aren't most of us? There's not much left here to support. My objection is with the self-congratulations for being the only ones "for" something instead of against while simultaneously dominating the NoDak thread with attack-ad style criticism. 1 Quote
