SIOUX @ Western Michigan - FRIDAY Gameday

Seeing video of the fight, isn't it a game suspension for grabbing and pulling on a facemask? Can't remember if it was just a major or a suspension.

Anybody think the NCAA will try to fix the playoffs so there isnt an all NCHC Frozen Four?

With five or six teams in the tourney, they're going to double up some teams.

That was the least dominating 3 to 0 .... Oops 3 to 1 .... Win I have seen all year.

Hope we didn't use all our puck luck tonight.

Or maybe the hockey gods realized we got the shaft last weekend and smiled upon us.

Either way I will take it.

Now, anything less than a sweep is unexceptable.

I completely disagree. We dominated Western 5 on 5 in the third period. They couldn't move the puck in their zone until they were a man up and goalie gone.

I think we played well. A couple of good bounces went our way, sure, but we showed a shutdown game in the third.

No question.  The NC$$ does not want a repeat of the 2005 FF when the WCHA accounted for all four teams.  They will double up 3 regions if they have to.

Listening to TH, I kept expecting the Western onslaught to happen in the third, but the puck just wasn't in our end much.   Would have been nice to get the SO for Zane, but there are much bigger fish to fry.

Was it a clean 2-on-0 Parks failed to convert?

Was it a clean 2-on-0 Parks failed to convert?

Kind of, Mark intercepted a pass at the Sioux blueline, moved it forward to Parks who went in on a breakaway from the neutral zone. Mark followed him in from about 10 feet behind, no wmu player was in the picture. Parks was stopped by Hafner, and Mark got a rebound shot from behind the goal line.

Had parks slowed.down, there was plenty of room for a side by side 2 on 0. Couldn't tell for sure (on tv) how far behind the first wmu player was.

WMU has every right to feel slighted by the refs last night.  I wouldnt call it puck luck.

It reminded me of the onld WCHA days when the Gophers would get Jobbed and the next game they played was loppsided PIMs.

I think they got the no goal calls right(I have no idea how a Horn sounds and no goal light, I thought they were ususall wired together) but there is no dening they swallowed their whistle on Steches Goal and the trip on Mac was a joke in the third.

I just hope we don't get a make up for them now tonight.

Yeah, we protected the lead very well once we got it.   The third period ... especially the last ten minutes, we were airtight.

My point is there was puck luck that got us to that point.

Sure, but we absolutely dominated them in terms of possession. They could barely get into the zone in the third, let alone have any sustained pressure

Very true. They had some chances but we were better.

Talk about converting lemonade back to lemons...UND was clearly the better team last night. I was never concerned on outcome.

Thank you!!! Glad someone sees it how I did. We were so much better than them 5 on 5 and.

Nice two point game by N. Schmatlz. Be nice if he can pop a few in too. He's the best playmaker we've had in years. Just wait until next year when we bring in some true scorers.

... but those true scorers are going to have to adjust to the college game too. I consider Caggiula, Parks and Macmillan finishers. I know what you are saying, but not sure if Boeser, Wilkie, and Gersich will be a step up in their first year, although hopefully one or two could make that kind of impact like a Danton Heinen. If someone comes close to matching Macmillan's shooting percentage I'll be happy, because I think they will all have their chances.

Ok... I'll admit it... I was "that guy" today. I perused another team's fan board today. I'm bored... So be it...

This guy is a gem... Anyone else think we were "intimidated" by Western? Anyone see a player who looked "wore down" ... Excellent grammar haha... What was the "message" that was sent? That they'll be anything better than a bottom feeder? No... Lol I think it's laughable...

The end of the game was imbarassing. We picked a fight because we were losing just stupid behavior led by Murray.

I'm ok with this and very proud of what happened toward the end. Over the years North Dakota has the reputation of a playing style of trying to physically intimated players/teams by playing with an edge.

I love Hargrove working hard going to the net, leaping over a fallen North Dakota player, he falls and while he is getting back to his feet bumps into the smaller Stecher who intern flies into McInter. This was certainly less innocent than than what a North Dakota player did earlier in the game going hard to the net and running Hafner (no call here).

The North Dakota player cross checks Hargrove after the whistle and then tries to get in Hargroves face to teach him a lesson. Things get chippy, but Hargrove sends the message back Broncos wont be intimidated.

What I like is how everyone grabs a guy and what we end up with is WMU on top off every single North Dakota player. Who's intimating who now? http://ndgoon.blogspot.com/

My favorite moment was Goff cross body throw of Odonnell and pinning him down on the ice. After Odonnell says uncle, Goff kindly lets him up, but Odonnell thinks he is free to take on another Bronco. Goff responds by going over to Odonnell with one hand grabs him by the throat and pins him up against the board as Odennell squirms helplessly

The tone has been set with North Dakota as they know we are not a team who can be physically intimidated, in fact, the after last night they know the Broncos are actually more physical than they are.

They also found out we are a very quick team and can skate with anybody. Did you see how shocked/surprised and wore down the North Dakota player who was interviewed after the first period?

Broncos did nothing wrong in the end, stood their ground and sent a message
