Mama Sue Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 What memoriesFrom my limited perspective, it seemed we could do no wrong in the play-offs. I distinctly remember being way ahead of our opponent, hearing "Sweet Home Alabama" playing at the Alerus, and reading a BOOK!During the championship game, from my limited perspective, we did not have the fire or drive or something for 3 quarters. So, we are down with 2 minutes and I am wondering what I will say to my child when I rush out on the field afterlosing a national championship. I can not say you played your heart out because he will know that I know that is nottrue. So, I just said, "Lord you will need to guide me on this one " (of course I prayed to win too). What memories 1 Quote
dakotadan Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 I was lucky enough to see it in person. We happened to be staying at the same hotel as a lot of the parents. That was definitely a great day with lots of great people! Hopefully the program is on its way back to that level of success. 1 Quote

gundy1124 Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Orange jacket and white hat at middle of the field celebration, that's me. Big fist fight the night before the game in bar parking lot against Grand Valley Alum, me too. Good times- Quote
darell1976 Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 I was at the game prior to that against UC Davis, that atmosphere with a jammed pack (and loud) Alerus Center was a site we have never experienced and when the game was over and the music (Sweet Home Alabama) started playing reality started setting in, we are one game from being crowned National Champions. I think that carried into the game against GVSU. It was a slow start but UND wasn't going to be denied. Watching that game and seeing that TD at the end was incredible to see. Our football team joined the WBB, and men's hockey team in winning a NC. That is the greatest win in UND history (until we win the FCS title). 1 Quote
GDPritch Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Was at the Cal-Davis game, the noise was deafening at the Al! Didn't Cal-Davis have like 6 off-sides penalties or something called against them? I recall Lennon getting pissed for playing Sweet Home Alabama a minute or two before the game had finished. 2 Quote

I guess he was looking up trying to figure out who did it. In the end, it all worked out. We need to get back to this level of excitement. Quote
geaux_sioux Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Against Mongana this year there were glimpses of that old mad house atmosphere. The stands weren't even close to full but the noise was giving Montana trouble. A couple years of smashing other teams QBs and I think the atmosphere will be redirected. Quote

Siouxperfan7 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I would have to agree that this play, game, moment were one of the best in UND sports history. I was lucky enough to be in Florence at the game. I remember looking at our group that drove down after GVSU scored late to take the lead and saying that this was going to be a long drive home if we lose! That play was just simply amazing. I remember thinking they scored on that play and was wondering why they were lining up for 2 and by the time I realized that they weren't in yet for the TD, Jed was turing the corner and running into the endzone. I remember the scene on the field after the game. Everyone was hugging everyone!! It is by far my greatest sport memory and its not even close. (Side note....taking a detour on the way back through the NDSU campus driving around with my Sioux flag out the window and cheering at every person I saw walking on the sidewalk was pretty cook too!!)
