RollTribe Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Just drove by the field. No snow on it. It looks like they did clear some of it already though? There are some small piles of snow around it Quote
darell1976 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I haven't been to GF since Christmas and with the nice weather recently, have they started construction on the IPF? I heard it's to be done this fall, and to me that's not a lot of time. Quote
dmksioux Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Nope. Nor the med school. They did start the ground work on the Med school. They were moving dirt and driving pilings in last fall before freeze up. Quote
UND1983 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Nope. Nor the med school. It will begin at spring thaw. Cannot start foundation work when it's -5 below zero. Quote
Hambone Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Buakol tweeted that the top 5 unofficial 40s were Carr, Shaugs, Palendech, Varner and Ratelle. Not sure if this was for a specific "group" of players or the team. Quote
geaux_sioux Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 In semi related news Dustin Iverson is up to 255...... Big boy and athletic. Anyone interested in this stuff check out Nate Baukols twitter, he's got plenty of videos of players lifting. For example Rattelle did a 374 lb split jerk. Quote
UND-FB-FAN Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 When does spring ball start? March 28 I believe Quote
nodak651 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 It will begin at spring thaw. Cannot start foundation work when it's -5 below zero. Crane arrived at med school today. Nothing yet at the ipf. Thinking Monday. Quote
darell1976 Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 5 months and 12 days until opening day against San Jose State. I cannot wait for the season to get started. Quote
bincitysioux Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Crane arrived at med school today. Nothing yet at the ipf. Thinking Monday. Dumb question, but where is the Med School going? Is that what is all going on just to the South of Happy Harry's complex? Quote
jdub27 Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Dumb question, but where is the Med School going? Is that what is all going on just to the South of Happy Harry's complex? Yes. Near the Columbia Road and Gateway Drive intersection. Quote
geaux_sioux Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Had a good conversation with a couple of people in the program today. They talked about how much more organized the new staff is and how clear Bubba's vision is. It's rubbing off on the players and it's basically what they were waiting for from Mussman. 3 Quote

Mussman lacked leadership, as I always warned. Thankfully Bubba and his staff know how to lead and they are passionate. Plus, you have to love the blue-collar run the ball and blitz philosophy they are implementing. Quote

They also mentioned that the coaches are just plain better and that guys understand what they need to do within the scheme 10x better. Let's hope they can unleash guys like Ratelle and Labat and Norberg. Quote
CMSioux Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I'm excited and supportive of the future, just need to keep it in perspective, this is the first year that money was made available to pay assistant coaches a salary that would allow for hiring guys with experience. The transition was run on a bare-bones budget, Faison refused to open up the wallet until he had allowed it to slip so far it was obvious and he had no other choice - he comes out looking like a rose but really it was him that put the program in the situation. 1 Quote

I don't know if that is fair. It may have been pretty difficult to find quality coaches during the transition and there is no point in over paying bad coaches. Quote
homer Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I'm just ready to move on to the new staff and hopefully some fundamentally sound football on the field. The lack of fundamentals and some effort the last couple seasons was very, very frustrating. Quote

Just because your staff is underpaid does not mean that you should be unorganized and lack leadership. The points GeauxSioux made had absolutely nothing to do with compensation. They had everything to do with effort and want-to. Quote
CMSioux Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 " the coaches are just plain better and that guys understand what they need to do within the scheme 10x better" I agree and I'm just saying that money will get you experience. I'm not going to do the research but I would like to see the comparision of the years of experience with this staff versus last year's staff. I'm happy for the upgrade and as always will continue to support the team. 2 Quote
