2014 Olympic Hockey

Considering how shaky Canada has looked and how solid the U.S. has looked, it is a distinct possibility. But the history between these rivals indicates another close, hard-fought game.

Don't forget Canada didn't look all that great in Vancouver either until the games really mattered and they started to play some good teams. But with that said, Go USA!

Yeah, kind of like the U.S. World Junior team looked like world beaters in their first few games, then made an early exit to the tournament this year. It all depends on how you are playing on that given day.

That's what it all boils down to - 9 times out of 10, the Soviets smoke the US in 1980...but that one time...that ONE time...

Canada will not win the gold based on their play in their first 4 games. Right now, Sweeden, USA, and Finland are all playing better. Of course anything can happen in a US/Canada game, but right now I see them as the 4th best team left in the tournament.

I agree with you. Sweden was Sports Illustrated's pick to win Gold, Finland is playing well (as is the United States). Canada has seemingly struggled against teams they shouldn't struggle against. But when the North American behemoths clash, anything can happen.

Both these semi-finals boast fantastic rivalries. When it comes to sports, Finland and Sweden absolutely hate each other. Just this year alone, Finland beat Sweden for the World Jr Championship (in Sweden, no less), the Swedish women pulled an upset to deny Finland any medal chances, and now the men play with advancing to the gold medal game on the line. I love it.

Did anyone ever see anyone even try the play that gave Latvia a breakaway and their goal. Faceoff at the blue line at their own end. They win it, right wing goes into the bench at the blue line door, replacement forward jumps out at the center ice red line door behind the Canadian D, stretch pass, breakaway, goal. That was really cool.

Saw Tony Bina try it when he was coaching Bismarck High. Would have worked if the kid caught the puck.

Could be the last time that we see the Lamoureax sisters play. Although both are only 24 years old.

I think they'll be cornerstones for our next TWO Olympic teams (2018 and 2022). The experience, character and leadership they will provide for the younger kids will more than compensate for their advanced age.
