Wilbur
Hitting the sauce a little hard during the game or what? I was only able to watch the first half so I have no clue why NAU came apart in the second half. Has Sumner played an average game this year? The games I've seen of his seem to all be not real great, which makes me think that his "average" isn't all that good. We heard how he was going to come in and carve up UND's defense at the beginning of the year and when the coach's put the ball in his hands, it almost cost SDSU the game. If SDSU had a passing game whatsoever to compliment Zenner......whatsoever. I'm a huge Zenner fan. Good kid, great football player. Kind of like AP for the Vikes.....imagine if he had any type of QB play that would open things up more for him... jdub27
NAU is fucking terrible. Probably the worst team I've seen all year. They were literally scared in the second half. If Sumner even plays an average game State wins by 50. What a terrible representation of your league. I'm embarrassed the game was that close in the first half. You know what is embarrassing? Blowing a 27 point lead late in the 3rd by giving up 40 unanswered points. Do you think by beating NAU and then ripping on the Big Sky as a whole, it makes that epic choke job sting a little less?
JohnboyND7
The jacks may be able to hold ewu below their season average for scoring by limiting possessions, but even that will still require Sumner to make plays for the jacks to win. Ewu will do to them what the huskers did. Zenner will get yards, but they will be playing from behind which will put it in Sumner's hands. Here's the jacks' problem; Sumner isn't good enough to make enough of those plays Sumner will throw it to the other team Both of these things will result in the jacks losing, but turning in a respectable showing. Idk, did fine against EWU a couple years back without a passing game. Maybe SDSU can do the same. Should be a fun game to keep an eye on. Should be a fun game to keep an eye on. please tell me you aren't referring to the 2010 ndsu team which very well might have been the 2nd best team in the nation that year. Is that the horribly flawed comparison you're making to the 2013 version of the jacks or did the jacks actually play ewu a few years ago? SDSUAlum08
What is average for Sumner? From what I've seen of him, which is not a large sample size, he is not very good. He will be this team's undoing at some point in the playoffs. I don't know his average but I'm with you. This team goes as far as Sumner and the WRs can take them. Sumner has been very capable but he's taken a lot of bad sacks and hasn't made the throws necessary to take that next step. To his defense, I think SDSU needs a couple more playmakers to help him out.

That NDSU team that went 7-4 in the regular season who lost the finale to Misery St 3-0? And gave up like 11 sacks to UNI? That team was apparently the last team into the playoffs. They got hot at the right time. I don't know if this EWU is as good as that one and I imagine that this Jacks team is right around that NDSU team's level. Very inconsistent. I expect it to be a pretty close game. We'll see. Only one way to find out!

jdub27
YSU (one of the teams that was "left out" of the playoffs) lost to SDSU 42-13 in Youngstown the last week of the season but yet the Big Sky is terrible and overrated because their 3rd or 4th team in lost 26-7 to very next week to the same SDSU team while playing without their head coach? Not sure what NAU did in the 2nd half (wasn't able to watch), but I'm not buying the conference strength/weakness correlation from this game. jdub27
NAU placed 2nd in BSC I was referring to seedings for playoffs. And since this one game was obviously the measuring stick for the Big Sky as a whole, it still doesn't explain how giving up less yards and playing SDSU much closer than YSU did means NAU shouldn't have been in the playoffs but YSU should have.

Don't care about any of that. The fact is NAU placed 2nd in the BSC and beat UM bad during the season. How's recruiting going??

So some of you FU fans want to visit results from during the season and others want to use results from the playoffs. You guys really are looking over your back shoulder aren't you. On a side note, Danno, noticed you haven't been in any of the women's sports threads or the men's basketball threads lately................weird.
Risky
NAU got smoked by Montana State too and MSU isn't in the playoffs. NAU also didn't play Eastern Washington. By the way SDSU also almost lost to UND. That doesn't say much for the MVFC.

jodcon
NAU did finish 2nd because they didn't have to play EWU and beat Montana because we pissed all over ourselves and had 2 fumbles returned for touchdowns among other general screw-ups during the game. The NAU-SDSU game was over the second Poe got hurt, Cartwright is a terrible backup, scared to throw and SDSU stacked the line on Bauman, NAU wasn't going to score again unless it was a big play or defensively. This year's recruiting class is essentially irrelevant because we are in the process of doing something way more important. The new head coach has the potential to reboot this program to a playoff level for years to come. Sacrificing one recruiting class for a quality head coach hire only makes sense.
