UND-FB-FAN Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 So we are significantly smarter than Faison and his contacts? After listening to Faison speak on the radio about the upcoming search for a head coach and his expectations for this team, I couldn't be happier. Faison is a smart guy and he knows what he's doing; UND football will be back to winning games in the playoffs within the next 2-3 years. Quote
Hawkster Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Miller says that the rest of Muss's staff was relieved of duties too. So who's left to run things until the new guy shows up and rounds up a staff? http://www.grandfork...icle/id/278427/ Quote
gfhockey Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 baukol the strength coach is.. I thought I read the staff contract doesn't end till end of year??? Quote

That means they will get paid through the end of the year, doesn't mean that they will work. A lot of places do it this way when they are completely changing staff. Quote

PhillySioux Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 http://www.tommiespo...arusoGlenn.html Prior to Caruso's arrival at UND St Thomas, the class of the league was Montana St Johns, Montana State Concordia, and Eastern Washington Bethel. They are now the dominant team in the MIAC. Sound familiar? Caruso has done all sorts of interviews discussing how much he loves UST, St Paul, the Division III culture. FWIW, I spoke to a good friend of mine who is a USD booster. Caruso (a former USD assistant) was approached by USD following the Meierkort firing and Caruso declined the conversation. Quote
gfhockey Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Wow gained a ton of respect for mussman in waynes new updated article... a lot of coaches don't take the high road mussman took the highest road possible IMO Quote
82SiouxGuy Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 So no one is recruiting for the next month? That's the way it sounds. Recruits aren't going to be really interested in talking to a coach who won't be at the school next year anyway. The new staff will probably hit the road right after signing contracts. Quote
UNDBIZ Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Wow gained a ton of respect for mussman in waynes new updated article... a lot of coaches don't take the high road mussman took the highest road possible IMO Agreed. He's handling this about as well as one could wish for. Hopefully the players do the same in the coming months. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 After being relieved the smart move is to always take the high road. Quote
Siouxperfan7 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 According to WDAZ, Faison is looking for someone with pro or D1 experience. Quote
NDSU grad Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 According to WDAZ, Faison is looking for someone with pro or D1 experience. As an outsider looking in I think Faison has already had conversations with Brooks Bollinger and he he will be your new coach. Why else would Faison word it like that? Quote

The Sicatoka Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Pro or DI could just as easily be Tibesar or Kleinsasser. Quote
Siouxperman8 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 If Brooks learned much from his dad (and I'm sure he did) I would fully support him. Rob was one of the best coaches I have ever been around. Quote
Siouxperman8 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Pro or DI could just as easily be Tibesar or Kleinsasser. I know it means nothing but I talked to Kleinsasser last winter when he was doing a promotion for some ice fishing gear and he said he would never get into coaching. Quote
Cratter Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 So one would guess UND will be their first head coaching gig. Quote
mg2009 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Another poster, I think UND92,96 threw out Nebraska Associate Head Coach Barney Cotton as a possibility? There are ties with Faison there that go back to New Mexico State. probably out of our price range. Current salary appears to be 250k/year Quote

UND92,96 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 That have ties to UND and would be in your guys' price range? I suspect the bigger key may be ties to Faison moreso than ties to UND. But I'm all for Brooks Bollinger so I hope you're right. Quote
108498 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 May have already been tuched on, but is the whole staff gone or just Chris Mussman? Quote
Csonked Out Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I really hope the next coaching staff doesn't have any ties to UND at all. We need fresh blood and new ideas here, a young up and comer who will make an impact immediately. We are a fully funded Big Sky program with a new IPF coming and state of the art facilities. Brian needs to open the check book and pay what is necessary to get top end coaching and assistants here. Mussman didn't get fired because he can't coach, he got fired IMHO because he couldn't attract talented assistant coaches. I have an inkling that a replacement has already been informed but can't be announced yet, and I really hope it's someone none of us have mentioned yet. Quote
Csonked Out Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 http://www.uwbadgers.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/dave_aranda_833458.html I want him or someone like him. That might be asking a lot, but we need to raise our expectations a bit. Quote

The only reason I mention the ties to UND is because you may be able to get away with not having to pay as much. Also, a guy like Brooks Bollinger may not take any other FCS head coaching job other than UND because he's from the area, understands the culture, and knows what the program could be. Let's face it, North Dakota (the state, not the school) can be a hard sell for somebody to move to who's not familiar with the area. Quote
