watchmaker49 Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 He signed his letter of intent already so OSU wouldn't release him if he was going to go to a Big 10 school. http://www.westernco...minnesota-state I can read the other posts that said he could not switch to a Big 10 school. LOL was for the numerous previous posts about how everybody wants to play for a Big 10 school. Hence, the sarcasm of my post. Quote

SiouxFanatic Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Stepan wanted to be a Gopher, OSU wouldn't let him. It's as simple as that. Link: http://mankatofreepr...Minnesota-State "(Ohio State) gave me my full release on my papers," he said, referring to the National Letter of Intent he signed in November and debunking the rumors that OSU restricted him from playing at another Big Ten school. "They were nice enough to let me be closer to my family and let me play where I wanted to play. I really appreciated that. It was more of a family thing than anything else. I have nothing against (new coach Steve) Rohlik." I guess it isn't as "simple as that." Looks like not everyone wants to be a Gopher. I wonder what the excuse will be now from the likes of Mariucci and Hammy since they can't say OSU put limitations on where he could play. Oh, I know! "Didn't have room for him on the roster so he chose to go elsewhere." Yeah, that's it. Nailed it. 1 Quote

SiouxScore Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Couple more good prospects decommit from Ohio State, would be very interested in the defenseman Dougherty of St.Thomas Academy who I think may have made a visit to UND during last season. Sheehy is a good forward prospect from Burnsville but I would kind of doubt UND would go after him with the forwards that will be arriving in the next couple seasons. MissSioux85 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Bid specs are out for NCAA Regionals/Frozen Four and there are some interesting tidbits -The Frozen Four could potentially move from Thursday/Saturday to Saturday/Monday -Minimum capacity for regional sites is 5,000 ------ obviously this would help UND's bid to host at Scheels Arena -Minimum capacity for Frozen Four sites is 18,000 http://www.uscho.com...e-frozen-fours/ Quote

Goon Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Going through the document, I don't see anywhere that says the Regionals can't be held at a school's home arena. Yeah, either did I. Saturday/Monday idea is just plain stupid. No doubt, that's a horrible idea. Quote
charliepic Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Yeah, either did I. No doubt, that's a horrible idea. What would be the difference from taking Friday, Monday, and Tuesday off versus taking Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off? If there is nothing else on TV Monday maybe a larger TV audience. Quote
MissSioux85 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 It looks like officials at AMSOIL Arena plan to submit a bid for regionals After conversations with the NCAA, AMSOIL Arena officials said there is nothing specific to preclude the rink from hosting a regional tournament and that they plan on spending "hundreds of man hours" trying to make it happen. http://www.northland...-213199571.html Also, per Schlossman No official ruling yet on whether the NCHC will have shootouts this season. Hakstol is an advocate of using them. Quote

Mariucci Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Saturday/Monday idea is just plain stupid. Its a great idea as TV ratings will be better. A lot more people are at home on a Monday night to watch it compared to Saturday. It's the same reason basketball does Saturday/Monday. Quote
Popular Post fightingsioux4life Posted June 27, 2013 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2013 Really? Hakstol wants shootouts? Say it aint so. The shootout is an abomination to the sport. Period. It has no business in any level of hockey. And I do not care how exciting they are. Settling ties in basketball with slam-dunks contests would be exciting, but it would also be a colossal joke. Or using field goal kicking contests in football to break ties. I do not care if fans in Montreal, Quebec like shootouts (this is Hakstol's excuse for adopting them), I do not want them anyplace in college hockey. 7 Quote

I agree, the CCHA proved it didn't help if you won a shootout because the NCAA counted it as a tie anyway. 1 Quote
siouxrunner Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I agree, the CCHA proved it didn't help if you won a shootout because the NCAA counted it as a tie anyway. The NHL uses the shootout in regular season play, and the NCHC and NCAA hockey in general are trying to position themselves more and more as a stepping stone to the NHL. Terrible or wonderful, as long as the NHL is doing it, the NCAA should probably be doing it too. Quote
