brianvf Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 UND up to #20 in the PWR. Still a good chunk of ground to make up if they want to make the NCAA's without winning the F5 tourney. Crazy, but if the season ended today, only 2 WCHA teams would be in the tourney with DU and CC on the edge. Quote
GFG Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Minnesota did suffer a set back this weekend. Nick Larson is out with a broken wrist that happened on a check Saturday night. Quote

Doesn't Don teach these kids that when you throw a punch with hockey gloves on you can't close your fist properly and the scaphiod bone is very vulnerable. Quote
GFG Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Former Gopher Max Gardiner has been confirmed to have committed to play at Penn State next season Quote
GFG Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 This was just posted about a half hour ago. Pretty neat article and exciting that this will be happening in a couple of years. http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/Myers_Hockey_at_Target_Field_could_mean_no_more_waiting_for_the_NHL011812 Quote
brianvf Posted January 19, 2012 Author Posted January 19, 2012 Former Gopher Max Gardiner has been confirmed to have committed to play at Penn State next season I really thought he would do better in the USHL this season... From what I read, UND was interested in him as well, but I don't think it ever went too far. Quote
Wilbur Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Just read a story online that Brad posted about J.T. Brown doing some obscene gesture after a goal. Anybody know exactly what he did? Blais sounded pretty pissed off about it. Quote
brianvf Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 UND recruit Clarke Saunders made 52 saves for UAH in a 2-1 loss to Duluth. They almost pulled it off against the defending National champs. Quote
GFG Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 the future WCHA is looking for a 10th member to join and according to this article the top four candidates are: - Wisconsin-Green Bay - Iowa State - Minnesota State Moorhead - Alabama Huntsville Read more: Fairbanks Daily News-Miner - Nanooks’ Karr working on organizing new WCHA Would definitely be interesting to see Iowa State go DI, as that could definitely spark interest to Iowa alums. The Fargo Force seem to sell out their rink. Run with the right way I think MSU-M could make a go of it an fill a "niche" in the Fargo/Moorhead market. Quote

Would MSU-M be allowed to use the Force arena since it would be a Minnesota funded school using a facility in North Dakota. Was the Force Arena funded by North Dakota tax papers or a separate entity? as15 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 MSU-M would rent it like any other tenant (see: Fargo Force). That makes sense, I just wasn't sure if the fact that the arena was in a different state would be an issue or not. Quote

UND just played a home game in Canada. I'm pretty sure playing them across the river in a different state isn't going to be a problem. Quote

I heard over the weekend that dozens of potential donors to MSUM's hockey program are just waiting to be told how much to write the check for. I would not be surprised to hear very soon that they've hit their number. Quote
ringneck28 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 If I were the NCHC I would be looking at adding 2 more teams for that 10 team league. I myself think that one school that needs to be added to this is Mich Tech. You want to talk about some hockey tradition. All I need to say is McNaughten and that should be enough. Under thier new coach, I see this as an up and coming team. The other team that the league may want to add is Northern Michigan, which could help with centralizing the league. 1 Quote

Appears to be more of a playmaker...only 2 goals but 19 assists. I didn't even realize Trupper had a younger brother! Quote
