Wind the clock back 85 years and you would probably think the Fighting Sioux is stupid because it sounds like "Sue." The reviews on this website were positive.

Call me paranoid, but ...

1. That Nokota logo looks effeminate to me.

 a. No determination in the eye.

 b. A casual vibe from the posture.

 c. The flowing, 80's video, mane/hair (can't place the singer). EDIT: Or is it Mariah Carey ...

2. The guy that created it said, "This is a concept that I've been rolling around for a few years ... " but the Nokota idea was first rolled out here by PCM (to lukewarm reception)

3. That guy's posts use that running buffalo gif that was used by a long-time Bisonville poster.

My Spidey-sense is tingling on that one ...

He did this in 2010. I like the concept better than the emo-horse that is probably wearing girl pants.

That emo-horse feels empowered in her skinny-jeans so you just shut your mouth. :D

(You see the effeminate nature in that logo too, apparently.)

That's some wild horse hair too...almost like Hair Club for Horses bad...

I think by liberal you mean progressive...which is a re-branded term for socialist.

Socialist, Liberal, sure you can call them left leaning progressive. The fact remains, Cal Berkeley is the bastion of Liberal/Progressive/Socialist thought. It's a true fact.

I don't know how many of you read the daily caller.

Via The Daily Caller:

Delivering a rare speech for a Republican at this bastion of liberalism, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul on Wednesday was given multiple standing ovations by the left-wing audience after railing against government surveillance and warning the students: “Your right to privacy is under assault.”

“I am here to tell you that if you own a cell phone, you’re under surveillance,” he told the crowd.

Paul’s address at the Berkeley Forum on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley focused on the National Security Agency’s collection of telephone metadata and the debate over privacy.

Irony-

Seems I am the only person left on this website that thinks we should tell the NCAA to Piss off, fire every administrator who is unwilling to tacitly support and represent in all of their duties and actions the will of the citizens of North Dakota and the Sioux people, accept the consequences like men and keep our damn name.

And it also seems as if I am the only one on this site able to come up with a new name that is at least not repulsive.  That is irony for ya!

And what is even more ironic is that the name I suggest is a name we aren't really worthy of given the lack of gumption and resolve we have all shown as we have rolled over as the best name in all of sports was mugged from us.

If we could just be a little more self respecting, prideful, resolved, determined and tough we could call ourselves:

The University of North Dakota  BREAVEHEARTS

...but the English are to many!

Wolves would be a cool name but they have nothing to do with ND. Might as well be the Dingos

Wolves were around roaming the Dakotas the same time Bison were. The only reason they aren't (they randomly are, we've seen them at our farm in west of Cando) is because they haven't been introduced the same way Bison have.

An interesting take on wolves in North Dakota from almost 20 years ago, http://www.und.nodak.edu/org/ndwild/wolftv.html.  It talks about wolves hunting bison in the past.

I didn't hear about this one... Did someone get put in jail for shooting a Timberwolf?

Looks like no charges were filed. Sorry, working from (bad) memory on that one.

According to Tucker, the last confirmed sighting of a gray wolf in North Dakota occurred in January 2011, when a coyote hunter mistakenly shot a wolf near Hillsboro, N.D. The Great Lakes wolf population still was under federal protection at that time, but the Fish and Wildlife Service didn’t charge the hunter, Grosz said.

HILLSBORO, N.D. (AP) - Wildlife officials have confirmed that an animal shot by a coyote hunter in early January east of Hillsboro actually was a gray wolf, a federally protected species rarely seen in North Dakota.
