Need guys that grow and stay 4 years too though. Don’t want too many one or two years and done, or we might end up without the hardware like other blue bloods. Is nice to have our name in the conversation with elite players though.  We needed that just to reestablish the North Dakota brand.  The next step is proving it on the ice though, getting back to our work ethic.

Like I've said before, one of the big keys to winning consistently/going deep in NCAA Hockey is having a well balanced roster of both high end stars (who might be mercenaries for just a year or two on campus) and 3-4 year culture guys. You just don't want to be all of one end or the other. Michigan leans far too much into the mercenary side, while Minnesota leans too far to the culture guys side. Denver has the right balance, old UND teams of decades past had the right balance.

I'm confident that Chyzyk/Jackson did their homework properly right after being hired and they have a good approach of getting both types of guys.

Minnesota leans too far to the culture side? Since when?

I meant that they prefer random Minnesotans who will stay there for 3-4 years over going after more elite talent, regardless of where it is from (Wood only went there because his dad had coached there).

They are loyal to a fault with some of the local kids who were highly touted but didn't pan out and become "culture" players (Jack Glover and Sam Rossini come to mind, plenty more examples). Even before the new portal rules made it easy we had underperforming draft picks leaving on the regular.

It’s great to be a UND fan! :D

Chyzk, Jax & Co. are making splashes. From what I remember, all of us here really liked what Jax had to say at his introductory press conference as HC that made us all cautiously optimistic. The recruiting they’ve been doing so far has been exemplary, don’t know how anyone can NOT be excited about this programs future!

PS Bear/McKenna? Feel free to jump on the train now!

This is the kind of excitement that our program has been missing. Berry is a good coach/person but you could tell that his recruiting had gotten “lazy” the past few years.

Is there a possibility for some players who are pushed back to play another year of juniors opt to go to Canadian juniors now instead of staying in the USHL. Mostly looking at Ashton Schultz. There was some chatter awhile back that he wasn't a fan of Smaby and his coaching style and didn't want to stay another season with his current USHL team? Could he find a spot in Canada for this upcoming season?

I believe the Kamloops Blazers still have Ashton Schultz on their protected list, so he could report there if he wants to go back to junior but instead go to the Dub

I want to bring it back to this.. any more info? ‘25-26 season or ‘26-27 season?

I was gonna say:  yesterday was nice, but today's been dead.    Players won't play a full 60 if the staff doesn't.

Hot shot recruits and trouble in the locker room?

I’m still thrilled about yesterday and am well aware of how huge it was. I’d just like to know if there’s more info on the cliffhanger, that’s all. If not, I will continue to be thrilled about yesterday.

Yeah, didn't mean that as questioning your thinking, NoDak.   Just impulsive, weak humor on my part.
