In case anyone is keeping track...

Jordan Schmaltz has one the Week 27 USHL Defensive Player of the Week. Oh, and it's his 3rd CONSECUTIVE honor.

This kid seems to be pretty good.

USA wins 5-4 in OT over Canada at the U-18 hockey championships in Germany. Miller had one helluva game for team USA scoring a goal, with two assists, and finishing the game +3. The U.S. did blow a three goal lead in the third period, but won in O.T.

Grimaldi finished the game +1 with two penalty minutes.

They play Sweden in the championship game.

Kristo-Gregoire-Miller....gotta believe right?

Mattson and Schmaltz named to the All-USHL First Team

Nick Mattson (D), Indiana Ice

Jordan Schmaltz (D), Sioux City Musketeers

Also a USHL All-Rookie Team selection, the 17-year-old led League defensemen in scoring with 44 points (13g, 31a) in 53 games and tied for the USHL lead with 20 power play assists. Should be really awesome and fun to watch. No Gophers in the Top 10 either..love it

You might be wishing they had players in the top ten and we didn't, because statistically speaking 1st round draft picks don't stick around as long as those taken in subsequent rounds.

Exactly. A player like Rau isn't as highly regarded by NHL execs but he was one of the best if not the best player in the USHL playoffs after his high school season ended. He'll probably stick around I'd say at least three years where as Grimaldi will probably be a two year type guy.

Dont get me wrong though, I would LOVE to have Grimaldi he sounds scary good. But with our mass exodus of top draft picks over the years Im a bit relieved to not have top ten type talent coming in.

So you're just talking out of your rear end right? How do you know how long any of these players will stick with the Sioux or Gophers... Seriously!!!

Calm down buddy. How many top ten draft picks stay 3 years?

Perhaps Goon is suggesting that Grimaldi will tear it up so good in the WCHA that he'll be gone in 2?

No Skippy, if you actually did something besides troll a fan message board maybe we wouldn't respond to you like that...
