Did Michigan State decide they didn't have room for Potter a year early? I think I would have made room for someone like him, even if it meant carrying an extra guy. SiouxForever
UND needs to get some players in the top 50 - https://www.collegehockeynews.com/stats/overall.php Annually, UND has one of the toughest schedules in the county, but it'd be nice to have a few guys high up in the scoring stats. Jackson Blake did well last year, but I feel like with the talent UND has had since 2005, they haven't had guys dominate scoring stats as much as they should given their skill. Brock (did) Oshie, Toews, Pinto, Gregoire (did decent) Kristo (did alright) Ducan etc. BC, BU, Michigan, Denver continue has players pop off. I bet our players stats (and our team record) would be better too if we'd played Denver's schedule thus far (NE, UAA, UW). It's not gonna get any easier this weekend either. We'll need to schedule more cupcakes if we want those high stats! I remember Parise freshman year when UND played a NC schedule of Canisius (3x!!), Niagara (2x), Princeton, Yale, Brown, and BSU. They went 9-0 against those teams...it probably certainly helped with Zach putting up 60+ pts as a frosh.

And then Denver plays Yale & Lindenwood before heading to Grand Forks. They deserve the early #1 because they've earned it & they're currently unbeaten. They're beating teams they're supposed to beat; that's what good teams do. Their PWR isn't taking any major hits. But they've had a very easy schedule compared to UND so far & they'll probably run into a buzzsaw when they hit the Ralph.

Denver has too much talent and good coaching to hit a wall when they start playing tougher teams (UND). But they would probably not have the record they have had they played UND's opponents. One thing, though. Carle is smart enough to let his boys drop one or two against UND to make sure they don't win the Penrose, something Berry hasn't figured out yet. .357
Buzzsaw means overwhelming opposition & that's probably not how DU will view UND. Better to say instead that any points DU leaves GF with they will have earned.

yzerman19
Absolutely huge get. Kid would've been a top 5 WHL pick if he hadn't declared his college preference, and he still went 2nd round. He's a perfect example of what could happen with a blue chip player when the rules change...wouldn't he surprised to see him play WHL next season and then arrive at UND. Still crazy that we have a committed 2009!!! The NHL scouts are going to love seeing how top players compete with older competition. He's positioning himself like Toews, Celebrini, Hagens, and Potter...if you can produce at a high level at 17 vs guys who are 21 on average...it projects really, really well 1

Really depends on how he figures out the pace of the BCHL. Jumping to juniors at 15 is wild.

The Sicatoka
It's how Dane Montgomery keeps a slot; can play either. Somewhere former MN Twin Nick Punto smiles.

hockeytherapy13
1 hour ago, ChadR said: He's played 1:10 of shifts this year in 2 games.... My point exactly. He's never been here to be a high-minute player. He's a role guy and he owns that role as someone who has never been to jump into the portal or try his hand elsewhere. He's here to help fill gaps when needed or help out when we are injured. One of the series in Duluth when we had multiple injuries he came in and even scored a goal so he's had a random chip-in a couple times during his 4 years. In this day and age with the portal, it's a gem to find a guy willing to stick around for sake of the team when you hardly get any reps. Which is why I say it's good to find a teammate like him who is going to be slotted in wherever and whenever as needed.
