ChadR Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Anyone know why Cam Johnson signs an AHL deal nearly every summer but always ends up back with Florida in the ECHL? Happened at least 3 different times. Quote

brianvf Posted Thursday at 06:14 AM Posted Thursday at 06:14 AM Quote Former UND forward Jonathan Toews is on the brink of re-passing Zach Parise as the program's all-time leading NHL scorer. Parise has 889 NHL regular-season points and is retired. Toews, who is playing for the Winnipeg Jets, has 888 entering Tuesday night's game against the Minnesota Wild. Quote

To me it seems like he has shown no love to UND in many years. Since has brothers experience here was not that great it seems like he wants little to do with the program. Goon Posted Friday at 11:34 PM Posted Friday at 11:34 PM My old buddy Gordon Anderson writes for the Winnipeg Sun and covers the Jets. He wrote this article about Toews. Jonathan Toews passes his first big test, saying, 'it's not supposed to be easy' Quote

I really want to be wrong David Toews played two years at UND; I don't remember exactly his reason for leaving but I think maybe he was encouraged to play for a different program. I think this is exactly why Jonny has no love for North Dakota hockey. Quote

I think this is exactly why Jonny has no love for North Dakota hockey. He got buried a bit on the depth chart at UND (understandably with the forward group in front of him...Gregoire, Kristo, Trupp, CVV, Hextall, Malone, Frattin) and was healthy scratched a few games both his FR and SO seasons. So Brandon from the WHL lured him away with the promise of more playing time and expanded roles. He did have a more successful season with them before departing after one season for a less than stellar ECHL career. I would think Jonny would be able to see the writing on the wall there...that it wasn't anything against David...just that he wasn't as good as the forwards in front of him. Would hope that the Toews family has no ill-will felt towards UND, especially with how the rest of David's pro career played out. 2 Quote
Popular Post Brett0909 Posted Sunday at 04:11 PM Popular Post Posted Sunday at 04:11 PM Tough to speculate on how Jonny feels about UND, he’s done some media for the school but doesn’t seem to have the same long-term connection as many others. It’s hard to imagine Captain Serious of all people overreacting to playing time management of a family member- he’s always had a good head on his shoulders and worked harder than everyone around him to earn his spot- and expected the same from other players. I’ll trust IF he didn’t like how it was handled, there’s probably a reason behind the scenes beyond family loyalty. Hopefully no hard feelings, his time at UND mattered for the team, in future recruiting, exposure, and legacy. I’ll always be a fan, and I hope to see him do one last skate someday. 3 3 Quote
Big A HG Posted Sunday at 07:19 PM Posted Sunday at 07:19 PM I'm not sure why a guy that's still in his playing career is being questioned as to why he hasn't done all this stuff for UND. Wait until his career is over before questioning. 1 Quote

I don't know what Greene's life situation was like back then, but Oshie may as well have been a Grand Forks resident with his dad living in town. Much easier for a guy like Osh to bring it to Forks. Greene also seemed very connected to UND. Toews did wonderful things with the cup up in Winnipeg with who he shared it with, so it's a bit selfish to think Grand Forks deserved a visit over that. 5 Quote

Towes brought the cup to places most players don't for their day with the Cup. Took it to children's hospital in Chicago is one of the things he did. He has talked to Hak and has interacted with fans in Sioux jerseys positively. I'm going to go with there is no issue and people are making a big deal about nothing. The fan base starts to seem entitled when a former player wins the Cup and/or doesn't bring the Cup to Grand Forks. 4 Quote
