I probably under sold it as well with my phrasing. More accurately, those two were a handful of standouts on a defensive unit that gave up 36 yards in a half.

My guess is Schmitt saw what we had in Romfo and thought we needed an upgrade at QB, so he brought JTJ with him.  Little did he know Jerry was better than both Romfo and JTJ

Interesting take on a consistently poor area of our football program ( an one that could really cost us) - it's not the fault of the guy who recruits and coaches this area.  Sounds pretty simple to me.

Hopefully, Sulik gets a look next Saturday.
As good as the pass game was, I sure hope running the football is the identity of this team come late in the year. Jerry was on pace for 42 pass attempts, albeit it probably because he couldn’t miss, but a 3.7 YPC average against a team like that is too low. 

Yes, they knew we’d be running the ball a ton in the second half, had backups in, etc.; I am just hoping for more out of the run game next Saturday.

Yes! As long as the coach is a good guy we should all be able to look over the mistakes. We value good guys at UND, doing your job comes 2nd!

Not establishing the run won't work against good teams

My thoughts are with everyone.  Got to have a capable back up QB if Jerry takes a shot.  Didn't see a single snap of the game live, but we need more if he's called into a time where things get a bit dicey.

1-0, on to the next week.  I liked what I saw with the first half play calling.  The athleticism from the WR group is evident, and a good way to open up the field for TE use (gasp), and for the running game.

My complaints for the game:

Turned in for parking an hour before game, Paid $15.00 by credit card, got 30 feet and a parking attendant told us to turn around, no spaces left.  Told to go across the street and park in grass lot by hotel on honor system.  No signs/directions for parking, no attendants that I saw, so picked a spot by hotel.  After game, came out and lost access to lot via hotel parking since pickup with trailer blocked access. May have been my bad on that one, but the topper was had to exit field adjacent to fireworks show, with no idea where to exit onto road.  That's almost comical.

Sound System/band playing/announcer were all out of sync, playing over or interupting each other:  no coordination.  Worst thing was the announcer/canned music was playing over refs calls;  I only heard the refs in the 2nd half.

Into started ok for team coming in, not sure of song (not a music guy), but didn't seem to have too much bling too it.  all the fun seemed to drain away after the intro.  Also, seemed too loud to me and my group, but I'm in my sixties, what do I know. 

field goals/extra points - we are in the hurt bag;  nuff said

good things:  Jerry's the real deal;  defense looked good first half, Boll and Applegate seemed ready as linebacker, new receiver from Florida Goodloe was a stud (where's Deng Deng, only had a few catches?); offensive line looked solid.

Let me know who you guys noticed in a good/bad way.

The Canadinn part of the east lot had tons of open spaces.  No reason to park in the south lot.

UND Hoops had a player who transferred this year get $50k to be on the bench his whole career.
 

JTJ is an athlete that can make explosive plays with his speed. Danny has way more to work with this year with dynamic players than his last time he was here.

I was at the game, so didn’t experience the issues but this is as pathetic as it gets. Just can’t happen. There will be YouTube streams that will work just fine for ND 9 man football tonight.

Obviously I didn't see the game, just like everyone else.   No excuse for it and hopefully that's the last time.   I had no problem with the backups going in.   That shot my 60 point blowout prediction down but it's worth it.   At least we know the problem areas.  On to the next game and another ho hum team.   St. Thomas beat D2 Winnona State in the last minute or so of the game to break the tie.   I'm just not a fan of scheduling this bottom FCS teams.

My god, they still haven't figured out the horrific sound system issues or the insane parking issues? Did they at least open the cat walks back up for fans?

yeah they deleted it LOL. They must have found it was something on their end that was the issue after the fact.

Was suprised that the #1 offense didn't run the ball better. Wasn't overly impressed with either RB. The MVC is a league where you have to run the ball to win games.

On D both starting CBs are legit and #9 could easily be playing FBS somewhere. 

...and Jerry was the best player on the field and it wasn't close.

I am betting that there were a lot of 3rd string and lower players on the field during the second half. There is no way our depth is worse in Schmidt's second year. I think Schmidt is prioritizing development over blowouts and I think that is a good thing.
