Would there be some missed offsides that lead to crucial goals? Of course. But let's be honest, the vast majority of missed offsides calls are off by literal centimeters. It's just not worth the collective breath holding we all have to do after an exciting goal that comes on a close zone entry All fine and well until the linesman misses an obvious offside call that results in a game winner. Rather than eliminate the review I would like to see it more like the NHL. Lose the review and it’s an automatic 2 minute minor for delay of game, no using the timeout to avoid the penalty. Quote

Not nitpick if someone’s was 5 centimeters offside 1 Quote
AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted Saturday at 03:38 PM Posted Saturday at 03:38 PM Reviewing allows refs to err on the side of onsides and not blow an exciting play dead. Waiting for verification is the price we pay to have fewer whistles and more action. My biggest (but certainly not only) gripe with soccer is how anytime there's an exciting break they blow it dead for offsides. Quote

I've been watching hockey a long time and I really don't remember this being any bigger of a problem pre-offsides review versus post 2 Quote

The last few times a goal was called back in games I was watching, I knew there would be a challenge if a goal was scored. The Fargo Screwjob will never stop stinging, but it did result in a rule change defanging challenges. Quote
SJHovey Posted yesterday at 12:15 AM Posted yesterday at 12:15 AM My personal preference is when we have the puck, offsides and icing are interpreted liberally, sort of the old baseball rule at second base (in the area). But, when the other team has the puck, strict enforcement. Quote

Realistically we weren't beating Duluth the next game in 2017. But by the end of the the 5OT I wanted the game to be over. We have some demons to exorcise in Fargo next March. Crazy how that's the case, it should be a free pass to the Frozen Four. Quote

Just curious, what makes you think Duluth had the next game? They took two overtimes to squeak out a win against a BU team that was recovering from the previous 2OT and often looked overmatched by UND - plus a pretty raucous home advantage in play. That was right after UND beat Denver and lost by one to Duluth in the frozen face off. I know they had a rough regular season against Duluth, but we all know how that goes when it gets to the playoffs. Then Duluth moved on with a one goal game over Harvard and a one goal loss to Denver for everything. If anything, that year seemed wide open to me, for anyone who could advance even if it was a low talent year for UND. Made it sting even worse, the way it all shook out and watching Duluth in Denver and the championship. 1 Quote

Had they not been seemingly deliberately injuring our players that year and we had our full team healthy, but that's a double hypothetical from a decade ago at that point. Once the Plantes are gone, Duluth will fade away (unless they somehow land the next Ferschweiler after Sandy retires to his cabin). Quote

Speaking of Plante...I think EP made a mistake...otherwise Max is playing for us next season: https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/597566/max-plante 1 Quote
